New Class: Monk | New Action Subtype: Martial

Would be nice to have the Monk Class.

New Class - Monk:
- Can play Martial Actions (see below) without restrictions.
- Low base attack.
- At the start of the fight gain Attack = X (like Saphyra the Zil's Order Bonus).
This makes Monk a unique class that does not revolve around permanent attack boosts. Permanent attack bonuses (and penalties) are ineffective.
- X can be a fixed number or based on some condition like opponent's max health / 2.

New Action Subtype - Martial:
- Similar to the Nehantic Spell Subtype - Corruption.
- Martial Actions are playable by anyone that meets the Class/Race/Caste requirements, just like Corruptions can be played by any Nehantist Mage or Nehant Guemelite.
- Monks can play Martial Actions without any restrictions (ignore Class, Race and Caste).
- [card]Shi[/card], [card]Fu[/card] and [card]Mi[/card] are now classified as Martial Actions.

This suggestion is...

  1. ...made of awesome!
  2. ...stupid.

No.
- There would be no class changes to existing characters.
- Some existing Actions would be flagged as "Martial".

Wow, almost no replies to something as simple and awesome as a new unique class.

Re : New Class: Monk | New Action Subtype: Martial

I like the "one-shot" shield on Haigumo more than the monk mechanic. It is interesting, but maybe not the most elegant I guess? I dunno. I like it enough, just sorta clunky when it comes to wording it.

Though it does give me a good idea! Thanks for the inspiration.

Re : New Class: Monk | New Action Subtype: Martial

Sure, I could've worded it

"Haigumo" cannot receive more than 8 damage from a single effect.

or

Damage dealt to "Haigumo" cannot exceed 8.

You got the point though. That's what matters smile

Anyway, multi-hits kill Haigumo.
The 8 damage restriction applies to each individual effect.
So a single 12 damage hit gets reduced to 8.
2x6 damage hits aren't affected at all.

What did you guys think about the Martial action mechanic?
Any doubts?

I think the best comparison is:
If Monk is equivalent to Alyce...
...then Martial Action is equivalent to a Shadow Spell
Every one can use Shadow Spells as long as they meet the race/class/caste requirements.

Martial Action is very similar to a Corruption.
A Corruption (Martial) is still a Spell Nehantic (Action), and can be used by anyone who meets the requirements to use that Spell Nehantic (Action).
