There is no need for [card]Surrender[/card].
The new card does its job 2x better.

This release has inutilized a bunch of cards by providing cards that do exactly the same, but alot better.

At least with Blade of Thebirak you probably still wanna run Istaryam blade, since you can't run 6 blades, and they dual wield.

Urakia also heals at the end of the turn without having to get damaged, so there is that. Plus, if you run Urakia and Zehanie you have two auto-healing characters to try and weather through AoE attacks.

You could, theoretically, make ice elves into Stone Linkers through Ice Spears and Cloak of the Guilds. Why you would want to do this and how you would win when your gameplan revolves around two easily removed permanents being in play at the same time is beyond me. Just a neat side-note.

Been a cool ten weeks since the last Runic update, and pirates and nehants have both gotten two updates since then. sad

#6 Re : Discussions about Eredan iTCG » Adventure Mode - Loot Nerfed? » 07-12-2012 00:51:11

In the past two months I've gotten 2 Abyssiens 2 Lunations 1 Mallascaria 1 N'ba from the Zil boss. And some other Zil rares I don't remember. So, probably not.

I don't buy energy.

I just assume discard will discard my whole hand every turn and play out as many things as I can from it. If, instead of two cards being pitched uselessly, I can pitch two cards to get +2 atk then hey, why not? Thanks, [card]Indigestion[/card]...

#8 Re : Suggestions » New Class: Monk | New Action Subtype: Martial » 27-11-2012 05:02:20

I like the "one-shot" shield on Haigumo more than the monk mechanic. It is interesting, but maybe not the most elegant I guess? I dunno. I like it enough, just sorta clunky when it comes to wording it.

Though it does give me a good idea! Thanks for the inspiration.

You want your mages to be Nehant Guems because of My name is Legion. It's why you run Amidaraxar even though he is essentially a blank card.

Poor Mallascaria and Dhan are being beat up in all the cards lately!

I do feel bad for sap players, since it seems their cards get nerfed more than anyone else.

But, I mean, Ourenos is pretty unbeatable.

Sorry Surly, but power creep not being bad only happens if you are the kind of player that doesn't get attached to a deck or style and enjoys going with the flow of flavor of the month.

You might have misunderstood. I said powercreep is fine if there is a format where the cards that are worse are still good in. It doesn't matter if they make an overpowered legendary if there is a format people can play in where the legendary isn't legal. And as long as there is a format where the legendary IS legal at the same time, everyone is happy.

#14 Re : Discussions about Eredan iTCG » Thoughts for Feerik » 15-11-2012 17:49:00

Honestly, power creep is not bad. What is bad is power creep with only one format. Feerik really needs to release additional weekly tournament formats with different rule sets. Ones that provide a whole different amount of limitations. With a wide variety of competitive formats to choose from, players will use a wide variety of decks.

Power creep only becomes a negative fact in a format when it is like YGO and the game only has one, eternal, format. Eternal formats are fine. Not releasing alternative formats is not.

Releasing, balancing, and testing new formats isn't easy. But its also highly profitable. What if some old rare becomes a chase rare for this new format? I guess you'll sell a lot more guild packs that way. What if people like it more than Amnezy? I guess you'll just have more people playing. Oh, darn. And for people that liked the old system and have already spent buckets of cash? Amnezy is still there!

Multiple formats are nothing but upside, the tournament room has been structured to run multiple tournaments at once, and there is no way they'll do anything but drive up sales and player satisfaction. The only reason I can see for them to not create multiple tournament formats is either being understaffed or sheer laziness.

You wanna know how to make money on this game.
Pick a deck that used to be really good, but that became low after some times.
Buy the most important cards of the deck when they are low.
Wait for an update of the deck and sell them.
Tsoutai and demon hunters didn't get a real update in a long time.
I suppose sap beasts will have an update sooner or later (but the actual cards are so low that I don't know if it's worth it...)
discard didn't have a good up since indigestion(and it is not that expensive, and you can be sure, that this card will stay the center of the deck...)
same for eclipse (i would suggest buying the scorpio blow)
and that's just a few examples. There are some in almost each guilds...

Knowing the release schedule and lore can also help. For example, we know that after the pirate update this week (from previews it looks like a pirate marauder) that Nomads are probably going to be released. We also know the Ba-Sthet just had a child. So if you were a betting man, you could speculate on some Immortals cards. Granted, however, there is no such thing as a sure bet and any investment can fail tongue

#16 Re : FAQs » Level up? » 13-11-2012 02:43:47

At about 17 you start leveling reeeeaaaal slow. Basically everyone playing for a year+ has been at 19-21 for months.

#17 Re : Deck and Strategy » Guild : The Mercenary » 12-11-2012 08:13:19

1-1 / Which mercenary's deck would you like to see put forward ? Why?
I'd like to see some Beasts for Coleone, or to help Olbat and the Phoenix.

1-2 / Which mercenary support characters do you use ? In which deck ?
I don't think I've ever put a mercenary in a guilded deck. I've put guilded craftsmen in a Foam Giant deck, though.

II / Avalonian
2-1 / What do you like in the Avalonians? What don't you like?
I like their appearance, they all look pretty cool. I also like the defensive play style. I also very much like Quests. I don't like how "all-in" they are on some cards: Triumph and Sanctified Hammer being the two main ones.
2-2 / Do you find Avalonian decks efficient ? In which compartments of the game and why ?
Not particularly, they are very clunky in terms of chains as mentioned above.
2-3 / What are the strengths and weaknesses of Avalonian decks ?
The Queen is super strong, and can keep your other Avalonians around long enough to level them. They are very weak to permanent removal, however.
2-4 / What would you like to see in Avalonian next release ?
Lots of fun Quests and another person who focuses on them!

III / tempus
3-1 / What do you like in the Tempus ? What don't you like?
I like their different approach to winning the game. I don't like how they basically automatically win after a certain turn number, though.
3-2 / Do you find Tempus decks efficient ? In which compartments of the game and why ?
They are very efficient with basically every card contributing the the goal, i.e., adding to the turn number. They are also very efficient in kill conditions, as you just need to play one card to kill a character, usually.
3-3 / What are the strengths and weaknesses of Tempus decks ?
Basically automatically winning turn 18+ is pretty good. They are obviously weak to the more powerful starting damage decks, like Zil Marauders, Admiral Al, etc.
3-4 / What would you like to see in Tempus next release ?
I can't really think of anything they would really need. I think if you wanted to make more Tempus cards it would be good to take a new approach rather than just more Time Mages and Time Spells that add to the turn counter.

IV / Icy elves
4-1 / What do you like in the Icy elves ? What don't you like?
I love the Ice Elves! They look so pretty. They're gameplay is pretty fun combo-play. I don't like how few cards they have, and how there is only one "good" build for them at any time.
4-2 / Do you find Icy elves decks efficient ? In which compartments of the game and why ?
They fell behind in damage around the end of spring, when most decks really ramp'd up the defensive and offensive output, but they are still a good budget deck.
4-3 / What are the strengths and weaknesses of Icy elves decks ?
Good at putting out damage, and get to attack all three fields at once (physical, magical, direct). Real weak to any sort of damage resistance.
4-4 / What would you like to see in Icy elves next release ?
Another priest, more good priest cards. Make the "magic ice elf" deck more of a thing! I got a Lady Yilith sitting on the bench watching Ursyd, Kokrem, and Ayir play all day jealously.

V / Other Mercenary decks
2-1 / What do you like in the Other decks ? What don't you like?
Not even sure what category this is! Fog Hydra and stuff? I don't really like their playstyles in general. A regular mercenary deck is usually a bad version of another deck. Merc marauders are just bad compared to any guilded marauder deck, for example. Same with priests. Erein and Nalen are very good, though.

VI / Anything else?
I think mercenaries that can be put in multiple decks would be good, like a mercenary with The Pack and World-Tree or something, and can play cards from those Castes without restrictions. Would be very interesting!

Dragon's fury only gives you a bonus draw for one turn.

#19 Re : Discussions about Eredan iTCG » November 7th: The Legendary Centorium Aurius » 07-11-2012 22:14:09

Time for try number two!

The most impressive card this release, besides the obvious, is Secret Rituals. It allows you to play Deus Ex Machina, Sacred Nova, and Omniscience along with Enemy of the Gods and Runic Training.

Vespers is slightly unexciting, though if you want to try and fool around with Honor  the Enemy AND cor runes in a priest deck, you'll probably resort to it. Otherwise most of your Nox runes are coming from Runecraft or Sanquinam's order bonus.

Evocation is pretty odd since it doesn't actually generate runes. I guess its mostly to let Sanquinam play Runic Training?

Volcanic Blade, our first one handed weapon, requires other one handed weapons in play to be good. A little awkward. Don't really want to play Living Dagger, though the Sap Mace and Sorrow Harpoon could be considerations.

Runic ouch! is weird. If it were a theurgy I could definitely see it being played in some sort of Cor Rune Deus Ex Machina build. As it is, it is an okay blast spell in a more action (and probably better) based priest deck. I could also, perhaps, see it as a blast spell for minotaurs to give them even more explosive damage. Perhaps.

The legendary is slightly boring in that he is so obviously insane in the Runic Training deck. I sorta am mad he isn't a minotaur cause it ruins the cool cowman flavor of the war guem deck, in which he replaces Nexiram easily. He also tempts me into making Human/Minotaur hybrid deck, running Privus, Aurius, and Hares.

Dirty trick is okay in the war guem deck, but the last thing they need is another unchainable card. I don't know how good it is in the war guem tracker deck.

Over all, I very much like this release! I once again applaud the Runic design team for making fun, interesting, and non-overpowered cards.
