crown of borders -VERSUS- piercing arrows

crown of borders stops attribut modification.
the arrows ignore/delete all defense boni.

my prob elfines dont deal any dmg against a tank with crown.

ignore means i atk against the printed defense no matter how big the current defense is, imho.

delete as in french/german version writen, is no modification of a bonus imho, cause i dont modify, but delete the whole thing.

so intented or not, we got effect or wording bug her.

Re : crown of borders -VERSUS- piercing arrows

well the text of the crown, clearly says, the card played by the opponent cannot modify the stats...
So I don't really see where is the bug here...

Re : crown of borders -VERSUS- piercing arrows

Either it's a bug or the card is worded wrong.

What I say below is valid for the Elfine effect.
I won't argue whether changing the bonuses is considered changing the Defense, but ignoring them completely isn't.

With Elfines, [card]Piercing Arrows[/card] ignore/remove the bonus temporarily.
Same way [card]Kotoba Shadow[/card] works.

If you have [card]Avalonian Shield[/card] and I use a card to remove it. regardless of whether you have the [card]Crown of the Border[/card] or not, you'll lose the 2 Defense the shield was giving you.

Likewise, Piercing Arrows don't attempt to increase (+), lower (-) or "set" (=) Defense to a different value, they instead remove the bonuses.

Another similar situation is Ayako, who cannot have her attack reduced, yet against Shulong, any bonus to Attack temporarily disappears.

If you remove a bonus of your character, you modify the current value of defense.
I'm not sure that the wording is wrong.

What wording would you see here on the card ?

Re : crown of borders -VERSUS- piercing arrows

Either:
a) The Elfine effect is meant to be prevented by Crown of the Border, and the text on [card]Piercing Arrows[/card] should be "Elfine: These bonuses are reduced to 0."
or
b) The Elfine effect should not be prevented by Crown of the Border.

I choose b), because in my opinion:
- If you ignore the bonuses, it should not count as modifying the stat.
You are ignoring it. The bonuses are there, but don't affect you.
It's like saying "Until the end of the fight, only Printed Defense reduces the damage of your Physical Attacks."

- If you "reduce/divide/set" the bonuses, it should count as modifying the stat and thus be prevented by Crown of the Border.

As far as protection against stat modifications goes
- The only way to prevent ANY modification to stats, should be with absolute effects that "freeze" the stats.
This could be worded like "The <insert stat> characteristics cannot change."

Re : crown of borders -VERSUS- piercing arrows

The effect is correct, the crown should prevent any change on characteristics from opponents cards.

Re : crown of borders -VERSUS- piercing arrows

the thing is nurvus, if you look at the effect of the card. piercing arrow changes the current defense of the opposing characater.

It's not like if it said: the opponent has +X to damage suffered where X equals his defense bonus...

Re : crown of borders -VERSUS- piercing arrows

I understand the wording/bug problem there.

"The crown should prevent any change on characteristics from opponents cards."

Sure, but like it's worded there is no defense change just ignoring bonuses. It's different than lowering the defense to 0. It is like the arrow wording says : you attack only against opponent base defense.

So. I join nurvus here. Either it's a bad wording problem (cause it actually implicates no changes in characteristics) or it's a bug.

1 - The part where it says "the Defense bonuses on the opposing character are divided by two (rounded down)." is a reduction and should be prevented by Crown of the Border.
2 - The part where it says "Elfine: these bonuses are ignored." should NOT count as a reduction, it's IGNORING.
You know what "ignoring" means?
It means the bonuses are there, unchanged, but you IGNORE them.

It is misleading.
Change the wording to "reduced to 0."

If you ignore a TV, you don't do anything to it.
If you change the TV's settings (like the sound), then you are doing something to it.

Crown of the Border prevents you from changing the settings.
Shouldn't prevent you from ignoring it...

Re : crown of borders -VERSUS- piercing arrows

same way i think. defense is ignored,
i dont attack against the current defense cause all bonus is ignored
so i attack against the printed defense even if its not the current one.
ignore doesnt change any stats

[Sapphon : it's not because you want something to be a bug that we'll agree to your statement and make a fix for your pretty eyes. So I'd advice you to stop your troll coming from nowhere, or I'll be forced to act accordingly. And that won't be a bug fix.

Again, if we were really discarding bugs as "work as intented", we would do it for things really nasty, like "We are Legion" or "The Demon Within". But, yeah, that's the kind of detail a troll won't bother to take into consideration, right ?]

Re : crown of borders -VERSUS- piercing arrows

I go check what the GD say about it.

Edit : Wording issue. In french, the text is "bonus are nullified". Therefore, it's a modification, so the crown prevents it. We'll change it asap.
