Ok, I have several discard decks, I have nearly if not more than a million crystals invested in my decks. It's just what I play . . . exclusively. This 50 cards in a deck has essentially left discard decks worthless. My top decks which have allowed me to finish in the to 50 in almost every tournament of the million, and usually fairly high in Amnezy can't even beat a simple tracker deck if their cards are maxed at 50.
My suggestions . . .
1. Reduce this maximum number to 30
Or
2. Increase the power of the following discards to allow balance
Mental syphon (remove the unique aspect)
Theft (increase the cards from 1-3 to 3-5)
Panic (increase the card number from 1+number in DC pile to 2+number in DC pile and have it take from the deck, not the hand)
Indigestion (remain the same)
Marlok the repentant (increase his ability to 2 cards instead of 1)
Psychrugist (increases to 3 cards)
Aby (increases from 4- the number in hand to 5- the number in hand)
Ishaia (remain the same)
Alyce (increase to 5 cards instead of 3)

i guess it is who you faced but you can face someone 50 but in the tournaments i have been a part of the highest deck amount was 30 but i guess it is tough for discard decks in the level room
their will come a day when the Katoba return to being a threat to all other guilds. I await that day.

i have yet to see a half decent 50 card deck. They will easily beat discard decks but against any other deck the 50 cards just bites them in the butt. I think your suggestions of improving cards will just make discard insanely broken.
Hors ligne
So because people may be playing more than twenty cards you make discard completely broken against anyone still in the twenty card range? Theft milling 3-5 is... Insane, even against bigger decks. And this is coming from someone who loved playing discard. Hell, I played it back when I had to use Kriss and the original Abyssien. The main reason Feerik increased deck size was to deal with Discard decks, which play on a level that is hard to defend against.
And to be honest, I don't think anyone's playing a 50-card deck. It's not like in Magic where you draw seven cards and you have a ton of draw spells and tutors to get what you need. It's Eredan iTCG, where you draw five cards and pray your hand doesn't suck.

I agree, improving the cards would be incredibly broken. I a few 20 card decks and tend to discard half my deck to get to the few cards that will win me the game. I wouldn't be opposed to the 30 card limit tho. somewhere in the middle.

I do think a 30 card maximum would be far better than both making discard more powerful and the current 50 card maximum. Really, is there anything that gets better with that many cards?

After i read about the decksize increase my only fear was, that feerik would make stronger discard cards, because that would be veeery stupid and would force everybody to play with 30+ cards.
to make a long story short.. your suggestion sucks.
Hors ligne
Apart from the super counterable WAW, IHAS and Marzhim, I doubt you'll be seeing competitive 50-card decks anywhere.
The odds of drawing what you need are simply abismal, and it means that to beat you (discard decks) they'll lose to about everyone else.
Still, I'm guessing Feerik will eventually make a card or effect that scales with deck size.
Something like "Discard X cards from the opposing player's Deck where X equals 1/8 of the current amount of cards in that player's Deck (rounded down).

I don't want to see discards become broken they were once upon a time and I remember it. But I don't want to see them become so weak that they can't compete either. I have already seen that happen with other castes.
I have noticed that decks with 50 or near 50 cards are not very organized. They seem to be a pot luck of cards, atleast for now. This makes them weak in alot of ways, but very strong against DC decks. There simply isnt enough discards available to beat 50 cards in a deck even if you can get a DC deck to survive 12 turns which is almost impossible in itself.
Hors ligne
It's the same with other decks.
You can make decks that specifically counter physical damage and get butchered by discards or magic damage.
Until now, Discard didn't have a type of deck that innately countered it, apart from specific character abilities, like Arkalon's.
Discard has always been the nemesis of slow decks.
Now, like every deck, Discard also has a nemesis.
Not saying it's balanced now.
50 cards seem a bit ridiculous.
The max should be around 30.

Thats what I was trying to say in this post . . . 30 cards is enough to make any type of deck you want and you can even do some cross over stuff. No deck needs 50 cards, the only reason to have one would be to counter a discard deck. I can handle most 30 card decks, still working out a way to speed it up against basher decks but anyway . . .
I still maintain that they should take the unique aspect off of mental syphon
Hors ligne
the only reason to have one would be to counter a discard deck.
20 is good for some decks, often feels short for others.
30 is probably too much for some, enough for others.
40 is alot, but is okay for a number thinking of future card mechanics.
50 is just overkill, imo...
Even the decks like WAW, IHAS and Marzhin don't really need more than 40 cards...
Downsides:
- Makes your Deck even more luck-based (less merit-based)
- Doesn't really offer much gameplay...
Upsides:
- Screws Discard
- Really screws Discard
- If you like Kinder Surprise, well, it screws Discard
---
I can imagine, in the future, sacrificial deck manipulation cards like this:
Instinct
Action
The next 3 cards of your Deck are revealed. Choose one, this card is played immediately and the other 2 are Discarded.
Chain.
Cards like this would make having a big deck with plenty of options more viable because you'd be able to reach the card you need more quickly.
You could even get lucky enough to:
- Play Instinct
- You reveal 3 cards among wich can be the 2nd Instinct
- if you don't like the other 2, pick Instinct again
- You reveal 3 cards among wich can be the 3rd Instinct
- if you don't like the other 2, pick Instinct again
- You reveal 3 cards
With this, you revealed a total of 7 cards you could potentially use.

Sure them what decks that use 20 cards do against discard decks
Hors ligne
I tried craftsmen with a higher deck count. somewhere around 40 items for any situation and such but I was getting ALL the cards I didn't need at the time so it's now down to a more stable 28 (still murdered by freeze)
30 card max should be sufficient to do anything you want in the game. since there releasing new boosters each week eventually I can see 50 deck size being good.
then they can release a legendary like jace from magic where you discard the top half of your opponents deck
Hors ligne
Pft discard can go to hell for all I care.
Dragon Knights ftw
Hors ligne
Discard is still fucking op...most of the players have between 20- max30 cards in competitive play....
Since [card]indigestion[/card] was released discard is so stong and much more annoying, nuff said.
Hors ligne
A new Set of Circus cards would fix this; ones that discard based on opponent deck size, these cards would be weaker compared to the standard set of discards but as the decks get larger they would become more powerful. no clue on how that would work mechanically but it would balance out Over Vs. Under power of discard.

Yes go die somewhere else, not every one uses 50 the average is 25 cards and improving discard decks is madness
