I like Eilos for the surprise turn 1 kills I can get with him, and i love the +1 defense, but i wonder if -1 magic damage might be more useful. So basically the question is Eilos or Hares for the Archon.

even though nobody has responded, i've done some playing. Decided to cut Sanquinam for Consul: I like his order bonus a lot more, and attaching shields wherever i want adds more flexibility to the deck. I have also upgraded all the shields, and cut the Who wants peace... and 1 of the ...prepares for war for a third shield and a second armed and ready

Well, I was to respond that you should replace Sanquinam with Consul since you're not using any theurgies...but then you post you just did so xP
As for your Archon, Hares starts the game with the Rune Cor whereas it's Elios's turn bonus. This means that if he's turn 1, you can do exactly what you're doing with Elios, and if you're turn 3, you can do it EVEN BETTER. Just sayin.

yea. both can do the turn 1 one-shot shenanigans, the question now is whether the extra defense to all my guys or the magic damage reduction is better.

Depent on the situation, Eilios can pull out it bonus by a Centorium Helm directly chain-equip by Neixiram, and you won't hestitate about use Neixiriam or Eilios on the first turn like this: Neixiriam come first with his bonus, chain Runic Shield with Centorium Helmet directly to Eilios, Eilios would normaly get his Bonus if he hasn't on the next turn without the condition thanks to Centorium Helmet.
From what i think, you should switch out all Armor and Ready (not a first card chain able, thus not good enough for a second card on chain)
Leave only 2 Runic Power, since you only have 1 archon, Agillian wouln't have much bonus rune if you want use Spear on him (if use, use Tantadian Spear, it's superior than the other since it = 2 defense, you can pull it out by Prepare for War)
Speaking of it, Prepera for War it's more useful when combined with Ceremonial (1 turn to pull it out and equiped even when those Weapon still in your Deck)
2 of it would be fine, since the percentage of those weapon show up early aren't high)
Lastly, an War Cry should be needed, because Runic Legion use a lot card in a few turns, you will run out of card quickly than you would't know.

I'm not a huge fan of Centorium helmet just because it doesn't really do much for me. the order bonus is great on Consul, but using it on Eilos isn't the best. Getting cor runes after the first few turns isn't too big of an issue due to runic power, which I'm never unhappy to see. Other than Agillian, my characters always have 2-3 runes on them, and a card that's chainable by all 3 is fine in my book. As for the spear suggestion, i've been using perforator more as a filler spot, which will probably be war cry. as for more prepares for war, it suffers from the same issue as Armed and Ready, that it's unchainable. and it only really does anything on Neixiram or following a Ceremonial, so I feel 1 is fine there. Armed and Ready is another filler spot which works against Mercs and Kotoba pretty well, but will definitely come out when i find a better card to put in.

Eilos got nothing on Hares for surprise turn 1 kills.
Hares has better base attack, starts the game with a Cor rune, so it doesn't matter wich Turn you're in, his first turn is a potential surprise kill.
Even against Tempus, who can get Turns to 3 or 5 before Eilos has a chance to play, Hares will always have that Cor Rune at the start of the game.
-1 Magic damage reeduction also beats the crap out of +1 defense.
Defense can be reduced.
Magic damage reduction cannot.
Huehuehuehue.

So i've come back to this deck with all the new cards, and i'll be updating the list. I've switched back to Sanquinam because of his being a human and chaining more cards, and because i get the most effect out of war cry with him. Runic Training looks to be a great 1-of in the deck, but i don't plan on running more. Going down to 2 Runic Power, Runic Armor and 2 of the Shields are getting cut to make room for more versatility. I always ended up pitching the shields after the first few turns regardless. Haresian Force looks nuts as a way to get around Double Clay, Wild Buds, Pirate Mages, etc. and Protection of the Pantheon looks to be fine as a 4th Power of the Colossus in most scenarios.

With the release of Nemaria's Trident, are you still going to use Runic Bigblade or switch to trident

With the release of Nemaria's Trident, are you still going to use Runic Bigblade or switch to trident
If you build a deck around [card]Nemaria's Trident[/card]... with Agillian...
- Agillian can have the necessary Runes by Turn 2 or 3
- He activates it immediately
- Gets +4 Attack, increases all damage taken by the opponents by 2 and deals 2 direct damage, meaning he deals a total 10 extra damage (6 from physical attack and 4 direct damage) that Turn from the weapon alone.
That's not counting with his own bonus OR the second card you play.
Result: Instant kill.
What if Hares plays one such Trident first Turn?
That means by the time Agillian plays his, damage suffered by opponents is increased by 4.
Result: Overkill.
1st Turn:
Hares plays Ceremonial (Nox) -> Nemaria's Trident
2nd Turn:
Sanquinam plays Ceremonial (Cor)+ War Cry (cor) or some other card in order to give Agillian 1 Nox & 2 Cor.
3rd Turn:
Agillian one shots anything.
