Potato-Peeling Duty. If you're playing Pirates, it's a neat little niche counter to the deck.
or you could play it in Noz with Dragon's Wit XP

In that case just use dragon's wit with fiery sword! XD
but well... i guess peeling duty has much more use if countering xD

When I played Pirate Marauders, I ran it as a 1-of counter to those pesky decks. Never got to use it, though ![]()

If you want to counter Armada or Fiery Sword, you have a zillion ways to make the Powder user ragequit:
- [card]Escaping Death[/card]
- [card]Dazzle[/card] (Hasna can use it, especially useful if she has [card]Disappearance[/card] equipped because it gives the opponent her penalty)
- [card]Scroll of Frailty[/card]
And to be honest, if you're playing Zil, kill Armada/Bragan before they stack Powder...
If you're playing Discard, just keep losing.

Okay what about for [card]Flames of the Phoenix[/card]; and no, Obesity/Luminosity/Any Negator card is not a viable answer since all they have to do is play it when they have initiative.

Did you let your opponent play all the negatable [card]Supplying[/card] and/or [card]Pirate Legend[/card]?
Did you let your opponent play all the negatable [card]Potato-peeling duty[/card] and [card]Fiery Sword[/card]?
Did you also - knowing what your opponent plans to do - let the character your opponent plans to use [card]Flames of the Phoenix[/card] with gain initiative?
Then congratulations, you deserved your defeat - eat the Flames of the Phoenix.
It's called a build-up deck - a deck that sacrifices consistent damage to build up for a finisher.
The powder build-up deck, in particular, is very predictable.
You want to trivialize that too to make your favorite deck even better?

The very reason why I lose a lot when playing powder pirates XD
Top three reasons why
1. People kill Armada before she gets more powders
2. If Bragan is out.. most of the time fiery sword will be played.. and there's various ways to negate that *screams at dissidence, vanish and dazzle*
3. Its hard to one hit kill opponents lately (unless your opponent is a marauder).. supplying for enough damage to kill your opponent and use flames of the phoenix in the same match is hard...
because if you really do concentrate on killing your opponent there is almost no time to use potato peeling duty.. and flame of the phoenix would be a suicide as it damages yourself too
so if the opponents actually can keep on being well offensive and defensive at the same time they can as well stop you to resort to flames of the phoenix
Nehantic stone as mentioned does a good job preventing. Also noz players can also just stack up their spirit and prevent as much damage as possible.
powders are pretty easy to counter to begin with xD its just a tactic to get used to.. there's nothing else much that powders do besides supplying catch and wallop XD just my opinion tho xP

Cool, so I should play a negator every turn to weaken the deck! Thank you all wise Nurvus.
Also been a while since I've seen [card]Fierce Lion[/card] which is weird.
Also [card]Nehantic Stone[/card] V2, which is the more common one used, returns to your hand so you have to play it at the time. So if they play it like I said your stone is useless.
But thanks again for all your useful advice.

on top of that nehantic stone is "spell immunity" and flames of the phoenix is not considered a spell for that matter. In fact armada does not bother me a lot, i usually one shoot her quickly, she's a glass cannon in the deck, a weakness to some extent. But i've played decks that use 3 warriors (wich usually have a lot of resistance), and hold back till the very and to give you theyr finisher. I'm not whining about their being OP or something. If you play a deck that relies strongly on A card, it's easy to deal with it. Another thing is when you have, on top of that, infernal crickets, powder kegs/scuttling, rocketers etc (witch are all considered "magic damage") and a card like nehantic stone DOESN'T work against them. Even once, somebody used two of 'em golems to chain 2 narwhals, and each time one of 'em activated he could chose a character (they all had powder kegs on them).
Well, if that's not to be considered, i don't know what is. Even fiery sword is't a great deal as long as i can oneshoot bragan too.

That makes sense indeed, but as i mentioned above, nehantic stone doesn't work against most of the magic damage pirates deal.

true that... if you're playing zils then I think suspicion of treason does quite a good job on preventing pirates on using their cards XD (this includes supplying, wallop, fiery sword, potato peeling duty, pirate legend, flames of the phoenix) plus they'll be wasting the cards they use too as they ends up in the discard pile.. and if its two supplyings.. jackpot! XD you're now likely to be ahead of the game.. almost every turn in supplying matters for pirates.. if you break them once (especially in the beginning of the game) then you'll likely to break their whole tempo too

Did you know they play non-damaging cards every turn just to build up for damage later on?
You want to what, do all your damage and negate all of theirs at the same time?
A single negated Supplying equals:
- Weakening the total potential damage dealt by Flames of the Phoenix or Armada by 9.
- Weakening the Attack bonus from Fiery Sword by 3 to 9 (depending on whether they remove Powder with [card]Potato-peeling duty[/card] or pass it to Bragan with [card]Catch![/card].
Not worth it? Then beat them down.
You really sound like you're playing a mage deck and feel frustrated you can't use Breaker to screw powder pirates.

Cute but not really if I play them with my Noz Mages I most likely will win. Only times I recall losing to them is when I misclick or had a really bad hand but over all my Mages can take them down.
The reason I don't like their brainless strategy is because, in the end no matter how you look at it their is no way non-pirates can get rid of powder. All cards that do that are in the Pirate Guild. Their are not treated as items but tokens.
My way of thinking is non-pirates should either lose Powder Tokens or the Tokens are treated as items this way it opens up more options to deal with them. Instead of sit there and let them stack up against you.

Point made
i guess zil marauders will need to aim for one hit kills XD and for the pack.. best of luck to them >_>
again tho.. dissidence will do a really good job on pirates
in either case I never really got up high in elo despite playing powder pirates for so long XD it isnt really a hard deck to beat. Plus if you dont have a starting hand with supplying then you're in quite a trouble... if you dont even have a starting hand with supplying/catch.. then you're screwed x.x
