We all want an active forum. A place to waste away time and have some fun discussing things with others or to hunt down needed information.
I want to know what you think would be necessary steps to make this forum more attractive to our peers and, of course, yourself. Improvements, changes, anything you can think of.
What say you? Discuss!

I hate to ask but what is the star rating?
1 star being?
2 stars being?
3 stars being average? (define average)
Yes I am a daft cock.
To have an active forum we need the programmers to consider our suggestions and engage the community to find ways to improve tings for everyone (not promising anything but just hearing opinions and throwing out some balls).
Unfortunately there are pros and cons everywhere (pro 30% tax (death of this game due to it being even more feez intensive) or against 30% tax (dicks can hoard cards).
So we need neutral moderators who can simulate what possible suggestions might give without giving an opinion but simply write the possibility of what could happen (gotta love negativism ^^) else every suggestion might kill the game resulting in the community not being heard anymore.
You could engage people into updating the wiki: using the decks forum to expand the Tactical Guide with all kinds of possible decks (expands view on possibilities on this game). eg. there isn't a single abomb deck being listed.
The wiki is mostly crap but knowing what possible effects some card combinations have is sweet. eg. I browsed the decks forum and found out zaphyra the zil can have a great combo. (dagger mastery + It is time for 5 direct damage to all opponents and a 9/12 damage attack)
This is the kind of stuff that personally appeals me to find ways to get the most out of this game.

i think that the recent inactivities not only in the german but also in the english part of the forum (dont need to say that the english section is much much bigger then ours) is to some part being caused by an inactivity of the staff members of feerik.
not everyone playing this game is also a member of the forum and i think the reasons one would register are
1.) getting output information about whatever (decks, events, clans...) and
2.) input information about your ideas, questions and stuff
you can do both here, BUT the information you get is passed from one player to the next, counting the moderators to the playerbase. staff members are seldom involved thats why i got the feeling that i could also talk to the stove about the problems i see or the ideas i had.
it is not enough to simply have someone to introduce the new cards and amnezy results. (!!!no offence to amber and boadicea, both of them are doing a superb job in english and german forums!!!) 1 admin each forum is simply not enough. if i suggest a thing i want to have feedback. i really understand that it is not always possible for an admin to check all parts of the forum as well as doing whatever they do but if the subject of discussion enflames a huge discussion i feel better knowing that the staff is on the subject as well.
best example is the sol'ra avatar... of course i see that the banning is a consequence of the huge input of the playerbase but this is not the way of treating ppl is it?
for me this is the major problem in the forum which gives me the most frustration over time and keeps me thinking that writing things is somehow useless

More staff involvement would be nice. Perhaps they could create a poll every now and then to see what changes the players would like (tournament variety, new game mechanics, special events, etc.)

You know, this game's forum is very different from another game forum I've joined. In the other forum, players feel like they're being heard. Like the company is doing things for them, even when it's a pay-to-play game (Eredan is still half free), and a lot of the players are very loyal to this company.
Not sure if it's allowed to link another game, but try looking at it for once. Maybe you can find the differences between this forum and that one.
http://privateerpressforums.com/
Easiest to notice are:
- Forum design (lighter colour instead of grey, more information, easier navigation)
- Number of mods actively involved
- Number of staffs actively involved
Hope this helps.

I think people read the forums, its just that they dont bother signing in or registering because they dont find any need to.
maybe make a trophy for it that awards a significant number of crystals.. maybe 1k or something?
events that allow for new members of the forum to participate.
maybe that should increase the members, now if you want to keep them, maybe refer to the posts above?

All I can think of.
Revise the Reward system for how many crystals one ears per game. There is no reason a 10 round game should earn the same amount of crystals as a 3 round OTK
With the above)
-Devise penalties against playing the same player multiple times (The server already know's how to recognize x person) So trading wins for crystals, and multiaccounting, is discouraged.
Add a crystal reward to the weekly Trophy. This will give incentive for free players to attempt them, and with the flow of trophies, expand the game a little wider than net-decks.
Forum events:
They are very, very, seldom. Since their can only be 1 grand prize winner in any event, you can make the prize a card like [card]Dhan [/card] or [card]Artaban[/card] or a crystal prize (a meek one, maybe 5-7k)
Weekly event's Involving the forum could have to do with Screenshots of the game that show a specific task, or strategy, even to the point of creating staff moderated round robin tournaments.
The tournament system in game is solely random encounter, creating a forum sprung tournament in game for each language isn't that difficult if you can get a decent amount of players.
-This actually has happened before, in the case of MSN vs the main french guild.
Promote activity for forum guilds. Sure, player guilds may not be plausible in game, but, players actively discussing their strategies with one another for the sake of a common goal is not something to scoff at.
@Bleach: Welcome back, any word from the rest of the MSNbatcocas?

i like rivendares idea of changing colors... grey indeed is super sad and depressive... a nicer color might help a bit...
the clan thing anihilate was talking about requires many ingame changes as like a seperate room for clan tourneys or a chat function for instant information transfer. these are requirements in my point of view... the forum in this case would just serve as a platform for applications to clans and challenges among them.
nevertheless i think that communication in the forum would decrease a lot once a chat function would be installed. i m still looking forward for a clan function if it was established properly from the start... maybe with some testing time(?!)
i also go along with the revise reward system even though i think it wont change anything about forum activity.

Most of the time, I go over to the French Forum for updates/deck strategies. Simply because you will see Feerik staff becomes involved in some of the discussion (perhaps Zurga has also access to some of the offline Feerik plans). Sometimes I find it more informative there.
I would suggest more staffs involvement here.

Zurga has access only to the online information.
And he try to translate all he can and spread the information with his limited English knowledge.

Lol.. we appreciate the spreading of knowledge. Still think that at the very least, the staff would acknowledge posted bugs in the English forums (or at least mark as duplicate). And fix some translation bugs lol.

our forums are rather slow.... 2 ideas i have for imrpoving it would be
1. add guild forums it can be a place for people to discuss the guild's strategies and for the people dedicated to 1 guild above the others to hang.
2. although not directly a forum thing add a chatroom to lobbies. it would add to the community's socialization and likely add some forum traffic.

I'd like to see something like "Balance Suggestions", where we could point out cards that are too good or too weak, and some proposal to help make it better.
Probably some kind of decks that are performing too well, and others that are performing very poor, what is needed to make it cool so people can also use them. Decks that have too many counters, decks that lack counters, etc.
This could help on bringing developers some topics when going o create cards and focus on these topics.

oh I'd have a lot to say there....

i think the way we are currently performing in this is quite good since u get lots of feedback on new cards and almost always there are new deck ideas coming up shortly after their release which are rated and tested by the playerbase
what i want to say is that i think that the playerbase already gives a good feedback on the cards its just that the developers are simply not (or rarely) giving any feedback on our feedback
thoughout the forum you can see lots of examples where ppl open threads asking for this and that change in order to balance the stuff and sometimes i think that the devs were reading them and introduced new cards to meet the suggestions

http://forum.eredan.com/viewtopic.php?id=26131
http://forum.eredan.com/viewtopic.php?id=17693
3 topics which were at least discussed over a certain amount of time with lots of input from various players and as far as i checked there was just one response from a staff member stating this:
quote:
"I think some of the devs already thought of something similar. But I'll ask to see if I can provide you some kind of "dev opinion"."
end quote
there was never any dev opinion given and i would really like to know why?
this forum is great for the users who keep it alive but i think it could be better if some of the staff member would care more about its users.
p.s. i think this whole threads problem never concerned the french forum, cause the staff is really active over there.
p.p.s. @theunsane why dont u simply say at least something if u have a lot to say?
