Welcome to : New Crow Deck

Hello everybody , i make this discussion to talk about the New Crow Deck.
This is my idea , but obviously you can change what you want and say me what change you'll do. I don't think i can soon make this deck but it's just an idea

Karasu Kage (Upgrade 4) is a Shadow Guemelite, and as such can use Illumination to fetch and play Shadow Master after Tsume, for example.

I've faced this deck a couple times, and I just feel like something is lacking... I mean it looks good on paper, but the normal Kotoba stacking armor decks just always seems to work better... In my opinion if I were to play Kotoba seriously I'd want to stick to playing a plus deck with [card]Xin the Ironbringer[/card], [card]Asajiro[/card] and [card]Gakyusha the Imperial Lord[/card]. Tthat deck just wins itself...

I've tried Crow deck last week on ELO, the difficulties are combos and if someone prestige Tsume than it will be hard to win although it is still possible...

Use 3x Kusanagi (Upgrade 1)

Lv2 can only be used by Yu Ling in that deck, and you can't Dual Wield with it.
Plus, reducing the opponent defense doesn't do anything for a deck that focuses on Magic damage through Tsume/Shadow Master.

It was mostly an unnecessary side-strategy, before I realized you can't group the Lv1 with the Lv2 in the same deck.

Ok thanks, I'll use an assassination instead of a kusanagi for a while because I'm broken xD. I think it could work with a well-timed Time to die to kill a Pj (when the combo Time to die - karajutsu is not possible, of course)

Alternatively, you can add +1 Illumination to increase the chances you can pull off the Tsume -> Illumination (Shadow Master) combo.

You can use it but there are much better cards for crows because only Toran, Malyss and Yu Ling can use it, and only Malyss get chain. [card]Bleeding[/card] better for spirit lowering and its permanent and chain, [card]Wall-passer[/card] doesn't but it's more versatile. [card]Disagreement[/card], [card]Tatamijutsu[/card] better defensive cards with chain (also works better against elfine multiattacks), not to mention [card]Fallback[/card] and [card]Tadaa! You're a bunny.[/card].

Diversion + Assassination can be very useful if you have Tsume equipped.

Stealing the Spotlight for a -2 spirit usable by mages and  karasu can be a good replacement for Bleeding that wont hurt your character.

i think that tadaa!you're a bunny is a perfect card for this deck as if your char is equiped with tsume it will be like -5 attack with no penalty it shines against kotoba decks over all.

vanish is there for protecting a time to die-karajutsu on toran that is most likely to be targeted as the +4 bonus to atack is pretty awesome.

i also wanted to ask for a good card against mages as with my previous deck (zil marauders) had the awesome stone heart but i know little of my new clan kotobas

Your List is interesting. There is a bit i would change but most of it depends on your opponents and your playstyle.

I would rather play one [card]The wall-passer[/card] and use [card]clumsiness[/card] as the other option for the chain.

You could consider playing [card]The Council's Banner[/card]. It triggers with [card]mysterious aura[/card] and lets you cast your [card]Shadow Master[/card].

I'm not too sure how useful [card]a new start[/card] really is for your deck. I'd rather play a [card]The hungry void[/card] to make full use of the variety of your deck.

Back to the main question you had: The only somehow effective spell-counter for your deck would be either [card]fierce lion [/card], or, if you want to be an individualist, maybe [card]Diversion[/card].

You want to kill fast.

Karasu Kage = Tsume -> Illumination (Shadow Master).
Toran = Time To Die -> Karajutsu

Hipotetical Scenario:
Opponent starts and picks Toran.

(Offensive Version) Turn 1 = Toran + Time To Die -> Karajutsu
(Defensive Version) Turn 1 = Toran + Tatamijutsu -> Karajutsu
Turn 2 = Yu Ling + Mysterious Aura -> The Council's Banner (Shadow Master)
Turn 3 = Karasu + Tsume -> Illumination (Shadow Master)

Result: Karasu Kage's Shadow Master will deal 3 damage to everyone, and his attack will hit for +4 damage due to both Shadow Master effects.
