"hit hard, hit fast," as someone else already said..if you can't do that then think and plan out your strategy, it's far more useful than begging for feerik to "do something about this",
and to be honest eredan's discard deck is far nicer than other discard decks, like in magic the gathering where two cards can delete your whole deck in one turn..expensive cards yes, but still..

well that all depends on the format/block w/e you wish to call it. I personally love magic ^_^ but not online. wish they would slow down though, every one seams to think there is so much money to go around lately.

Eh. Obesity is a good counter. Obesity is 17k, which is fairly pricey. Moneyed and Watcher are a losing proposition. Moneyed doesn't even chain, so you're trading a turn, where you're losing 1-3 cards for a draw of 1-3 random cards. Watcher is one card back, plus the card you played, in a turn when you're losing 1-3. Council is a Court card. That all goes back to the idea that discard decks are primarily countered by high, fast damage decks. So discard may not beat fast damage decks. But that means people are now playing discard or fast damage. Entire swathes of the game are thrown out because they don't ko in 4 turns. And that weakens the metagame, and the long term survivability of the game itself.

Lol, counter discard is easy. If your a mage deck spam spells, otherwise...

First of DON'T play chain cards, unless it is equipment that does damage to them or something overpowering like Time to Die. Second play attack equipment as you get it, don't play almost anything else. Let them force you to discard to get to the cards you want, never choose to discard when given the option and not forced.

Throw a moneyd or two(or if your lucky enough A New Start) and/or a watcher in your deck if you're really having a problem. You'd be amazed how one extra card can really screw up a discard deck.

What Dracatis mentioned is the perfect counter against a discard deck. Another tip is to NOT activate any Spirit bonus orders. That will help alot. Only play permanents that boost your attack and let your character slide turn by turn without any action. A discard deck might even deck itself out before you did (unless they have A New Start).

I played discard quite a lot... and that's how I lose most of the time

I hated going up against discard decks until I beat one in three turns with my Crow Deck, then a different one with my Pack deck.

Every deck has a weakness. Hit em hard, hit em fast, and don't complain if you don't win. Games are made FOR FUN, and there's always next game.

sorry to necro a relatively old topic but I am having some trouble with discard decks that are composed of Ish, Abs, and Salem using a zil marauder deck (Abom, Tel, shadow).

I know I'm supposed to play only the daggers and stuff. but I also know that I need to take out one of em if I am gonna win, and so far, I can't seem to takeout anyone in the first 3 turns.. any suggestions?

I already have the necessary cards, 3 each of assassinate, living dagger, fist blade, warrior's fury. I also have the best defense, TTD, obesity and some other cards to counter other decks..

so.. help?

best advice is not to take out 1 of them. make sure you take out ish. simple as that.

its not that simple how quickly you get milled is based on your characters stats and what your milling opponents opening hand is. killing ish doesn't solve you problem if your kill cards get milled next turn or before hand.

i'm back on the fence about these decks....the new abyssien is virtually impossible to one off...and if the other zils use look away you can't one off them anymore either.
so, alot of the countering i've used is out the window. i stacked a temple gaurdian deck with mimic, moneyed and obesity and still lost more than half my deck to discards...we just need more options or we all really will just be running 4 character combos and 2 strategies making the rest of the game obsolete. eredan has so much more to offer than a cheap victory. i didn't mind losing 1 or 2 games to discard decks here and there, but now it's a plague of them and i'm losing 4 out of 5. if nothing else it's irritating and kinda kills how much i enjoy playing the game.

mill decks are part of the game. they are a legal deck and they aren't gonna banned just cuz someone doesn't like them. i dislike them due to the amount of them in use. to win vs discard most of the time you need a new start or void or both. seeing constant mill is no different than seeing constant noz mages, or saps, after a while it gets old. well its mill deck right now and it will eventually pass it could take a day or it could take a year. its part of the game so you will have to deal with it or quit.

i dont think he was asking it to be banned, just additional options to counter the deck.. not everyone can fork over 800cx for a new start and hungry void.. and i dont think everyone is willing to throw away a ton of money just to get 2 legendaries especially with how cards are rolled nowadays.. not to mention the chance gets smaller every week..

i play discard deck, and i do win alot...ALOT. Although its boring...i run Ishaia, Salem, Abussien devourer. 3 Manipulations and 3 Ice barriers for defense, the rest is discards, 3 panic, 3 treacherous, 2 theft, 2 cloning...

What i fear, is the damn Port decks, if i dont get a good hand to kill some Ports, or multitasking, i pray i discrad fast enuf and live through the few turns...Also, Frenzy helps to get rid of Port, but other than that, i have no idea how to beat them, i have yet to come across one good, fully equipped port deck.

For Witchblades, i dont see how they can kill you, i lost once only, and thats because i had no Manipulations or Barriers in 3 turns, and he had his 3 Blades and RoD...so yeah...aside that, they are very manageable. So far, no Zil or Koto, or Tracker deck has beat me, at least until 1800...Even with New start, you always have Anathematize, which should be in very deck IMO, stops ANS and items have a soul, and so far, i havent lost much...

use Freeze on pesky items, or overly boosted Foam Giants I need a Prestige in my deck, and a New Start, and Hungry Void to say that its full, but those 3 cost over 1.5 mill feez...soo i cant afford them yet

. All these decks really do is discard my items for me! LOVE IT! hope this may have made you look into the deck
