Corruption Decks question

Okay, Ive been playing fairly often against corruption decks and I cant figure this out

The battle is ongoing, the enemy is doing mostly pathetic damage

and then out of the blue my people get hit with +40-50 damage

Can someone explain how is this happening?

Re : Corruption Decks question

but why does it only start happening 3-4 turns in

even more so, how come only a single vital siphon with only 3-4 corruptions is causing my character to go from near full hp to -20 to -30

Re : Corruption Decks question

Maybe they used [card]The Great Devourer[/card], and every single [card]Corruption of the Soul[/card], [card]Vital Syphon[/card], etc, gets increased by X where X is the number of cards missing in your hand.

Re : Corruption Decks question

Not sure if that's how the great Dev works...wouldn't it just increase the overall damage by that factor? So 3 cards in hand, extra 2 damage? Not an extra 2 damage per corruption...

Clarification needed from Devs I guess, but pretty sure that's the way it works. I think the card was designed mainly for the Mill/Discard Nehants.

Extinction, Nehant Stone, Spell Shield, countless cards to remove permanents, dissidence, etc. Corruption is probably the deck with most counters in the game, I dont know what you are crying for.

Evil is just a point of view >)

No clarification needed.
The amount of damage you gain from The Great Devourer is X (cards in opponent's hand) times the # of individual damage sources.

5 sources of damage & 0 cards in enemy hand = 25 damage gained from [card]The Great Devourer[/card].

Note: Think of it like each player having X [card]Evil Jorusien[/card]s on himself, where X equals the number of cards missing from his hand.

Example:
- You are Anagram (Guemelite version)
- You have [card]Nehant's Splinter[/card] equipped
- Opponent has [card]...until someone gets hurt.[/card] & 2x [card]Corruption of the Soul[/card] attached
- Opponent has 0 cards in hand
- You do physical damage to him

You play [card]Cutting All Ties[/card] and [card]The Great Devourer[/card]

Assuming you do 6 physical damage to him, the total damage at the end of the Turn will be:
Physical attack = 6 +5 (TGD) = 11
Nehant's Splinter = 1 +5 (TGD) = 6 (only against the opponent, other characters damaged by the splinter would take 1)
Corruption of the Soul #1 = 1 +5 (TGD) = 6
Corruption of the Soul #2 = 1 +5 (TGD) = 6
...until someone gets hurt = 5 +5 (TGD) = 10

If you had 2 Vital Syphons, remember each vital syphon does 1 damage for each corruption on your character.

Tenebrium deals 2 damage per corruption if you have an Even number of corruptions on you.

So if opponent plays Tenebrium and you have:

2x Vital Syphon
2x Corruption of the Soul
1x Desolation of the Heart
1x Revealing the Secret
2x Perversion

Tenebrium deals 12 damage, you take 2 from corruption of the soul, 12 total from the vital syphons.

Re : Corruption Decks question

Also, there is a chance that another character you had died, and all his corruptions gone to other character of yours and you didn't notice it. But corruption decks does giant damage like that. If he plays right, by turn 6 foward, you will have near 10 corruption in one character if he focus, so if he 3 of those are siphons, he will be doing 30 damage on you..
