This may seem like a bad idea given that we had a topic somewhat like this but...

I've gotten a few friends to try this game. But before they really drop money on it I suggested for them pick up the 10k starter packs. This in turn made them ask me what the best starter deck is. I didn't have a good answer so I thought'd I'd ask that here.

Of the 10k crystal starter decks, which one is the 'best'? Best can be defined as what you think is the strongest, longest lasting, easiest to use, or 'best for your buck' set up. Heck whatever makes you think it's the 'best starter' to use can be talked about. I'm just looking for more input for my friends.

I think that the best ones would be Kotoba (Warrior) or Zil (Marauder).

If i remember correctly Zil's rarecard was [card]Assassination[/card]. Sounds like a good deal to me.
Kotoba would be my second bet too, some basic warrior cards never hurt.

actually pirates were quite viable due to pirate codes but basically every deck but noz is recommendable... noz are still a bit underpowered in the starters... and when there was the 3rd starter deck tournament i think that all decks were represented among the first 50 places

Actually, I suggested the pirate deck myself. Mainly because of Hook and how popular the Shadow Zil deck still is. Hook gives newer players a chance to win vs them as he says Nope to one of them each fight.

Remember the discount for new player
the first 3 deck should be 1,2k cx with 88% Discount
i suggest take noz and zil
assasination and fire ball is good enough in any deck later

nah , don't take noz starter , it takes ages for a non-rich player to get an actually playable mage deck

well at least it is the expensive card for cheap price
also you can get infernal cricket from pirate and the card that allow you to deal additional attack *forget its name* from sap deck

i dont think kotoba starter is good since the rare(wakizashi) is not good atm
nomad starter is bad and cheap
and nehant dark fury is getable with sitting cx
