or you mean newcomer booster?
check your "My collection"
sort the card from the recent update.
you will see the card from recently update
if you found new cards then you already receive it

I think that he bought a booster and dont oppened it...
Try to relog the game, it will say just like:
"You got a locked booster", then you open it... Or go to your collection and click on stock or something like that(idk how it's write on english...)
Try it, if dont is that well... Idk xD
