Demonic Portal not working

I have tried to use it everyway possible, and cannot get it to exchange my attack with opponents.  is there a hidden trick I missed?

You have to choose a demon, not your opponent.
Basically, play [card]demon may rise[/card] before playing [card]demonic portal[/card]
