Demon's Rage

Is [card]Demon's Rage[/card] not working? Because I have used it several times and when my character dies, the 5 magic damage is not dealt.

5 magical damage can be reduced by opponent spirit.
And the opposing character is randomly defined.

Yes I understand that the person I was playing against had 0 spirit and I had 2 Demon's rage on the character that died.  He lived so not sure.  but maybe he had some defense up.  I'll play around with it some more then but pretty sure it didn't process.

Again, demon's rage makes damage randomly, not only to the character in battle in front of you, it can be another one not in battle.
