Not including bonuses like Alishk etc. But yeah, if Runic Legion takes -2 magic damage, they crush storm decks.
Hors ligne
[card]crystal storm[/card] is an AOE so it doesn't matter who gets bonuses to damage
And if they did in fact have -2 to magic damage suffered it goes by each individual source of magic damage so stacking crystal storms do absolutely nothing
Hors ligne
Why? Is CS Compendium suddenly the top ELO deck?

If The Pythia gets her little pet, CS does 3.

combine those magic damage deductions with things like runic gauntlet that give spirit when spells are played...
Hors ligne
if you look at the current Runic items and the quest i think its going to be more like an anti-theurgy then magic.

Guessing if pythia plays [card]The Other Side of the Coin[/card]+ illumination her CS deals 7 magic damage per start of the turn? The +4 spell damage in the card doesn't mention (non-aoe)

not sure if other side of the coin+ illumi (CS) would result in a 7 damage turn, but I'll try it out now ( I always had those cards in my deck, just never thought of using it that way ) and tell you guys the results
Granted, CS got their improvement from the ice crystals and magic servant, since they aren't spells and can boost up the compendium's defense and attack without the risk of throwing off CS itself. Magic servant also prevents them from decking out (something they do quite often with CS + scepter +sylphite) so I guess that helps them to stay in the game longer?
Personally I enjoy the changes, it really buffed up the C.S. alot but not overly like the wild buds/ indigestion /tempus decks
edit:
tried the other side of the coin + illu combo, and the results are.......
NOPE, you'll still do only 2/3 damage from CS on your next turn and subsequent turns, so yeah the dream of dealing 7 direct-like damage will have to wait

[card]crystal storm[/card]
read the first part of the card...
what I'm saying is +spell damage a card gives are applied throughout all phases of the game. one explample is if you play other side of the coin + magic poison that magic poison will always deal 9 magic at the end of the turn unless it is removed or the character that has it dies. so in theory if pythia or archmage anyerna plays other side of the coin + illumination and illumination draws CS the +4 spell damage bonus will stay on CS. so next turn it will deal 2 (3 if pythia plays it with her pet) + the 4 spell damage bonus

Sounds plausible... gonna give it a try later once I put together my Compendium deck again.

Oh, too bad I guess they forgot to add non-aoe of the first spell damage bonus . I guess using using other side the coin on magic study or magic poison will do

The other side of the coin did mention that it is Non-AoE spells.

read the last part about magic damage
You're right only if you doing damages in the turn where the other side of the coin is active for non AOE spells.
Crystal storm makes damages at the beginning of the next turn.
The card is no more active for non-AOE spells.
Sylphid is permanent, lightning rod is also permanent.
Other side of the coin has specific behaviour this prevent the card to upgrade damages.
