Pilkim's passive

I tried bringing a [card]...Than the Sword[/card] back from my discard pile with a [card]Break the Second Chain[/card], but Pilkim's defensive bonus didn't activate. Is this a bug?

The card must be "played". that is, from your hand while the main phase.

cards from the graveyard, of the hand or learned from the deck, are "added" but not "played".

Not true.
If there was already a draconic spell played, the bonus is given by the first card.
If the bonus is not given, the new card from graveyard should give the bonus.
