Okay, this is a weird bug I know, but twice now I have tried using Clover's ability to attach a Pistolblade (which is dual wield) to my out-of-combat Ica-Rusty which has a Derf Geiss's Double Blade and Derf Geiss's Shield attached to it. The Pistolblade attaches, but Derf Geiss's Double Blade discards, as if neither of them were dual wield. In the same game, I try to attach a second Derf Geiss's Double Blade. This time, Pistolblade discards, as if neither of them were dual wield.

I believe the bug involves a dual wield weapon not counting as a dual wield when attached to another character by a craftsman.

The anwser is : two hands (not three)

One hand wields the shield.
The other hand wields the pistolblade or the Derf Geiss blade.

Your character can wield pistolblade and Derf Geiss blade.
Your character can wield Derf Geiss Shield and Derf Geiss blade.
Your character can wield pistolblade and Derf Geiss Shield.
And that's all. If you try to attach another weapon or shiel it may discard one of your weapon or shield already attached.

Not a bug

hrm.. not exactly. I managed to hold Derf Geiss Blade, Shield and life devourer all at the same time before.

Geiss shield is an armor shield item.. probably attached on the characters arm or something XD

And from the description of pistol blade it does say "dual wield" meaning you should be able to equip it with any other one handed weapon

This still looks weird to me

perhaps the other sword needs to have "dual wield" written as well?

As my fellow player mentioned above, I have traditionally been able to equip an armor item with any pair of one-handed weapons provided one of them is dual wield, e.g. life devourer + short sword + simple shield; simple dagger + sword of 5 elders + avalonian shield.

Your explanation does not seem to adequately explain my situation for two reasons - first, as I said, I am able to equip two one-handed weapons consistently, even the weapons I mentioned in my original post. The error occurred when I tried to do the same thing with Clover's ability.

Second, Some types of armor are not shields at all (imperial armor, tribal mask, etc.), and the gameplay does not differentiate between various types.
