I thought developers recognized that Avatar in combination wird other Charakters was slightly overpowered, because he got banned very quickly for a new released card in in elo tournament.
No big deal this can happen.
BUT: Now comes Scragh, who is even worse. He takes out quite a lot of common played decks and smalls down the possible variation. With many decks its now same situation like u play Cristal storm and face up Furagu or Urakia = Instant loss.
I´m not sad, that i cannot build a Avatar or Scragh deck, because, i can build all of the decks. It bothers me that so many cards and decks now pretty useless.
I know that new coming cards always have to better, that old stuff, but i really hope that coming charakters not leave so much burned earth like Scragh and Avatar,
because it destroyes the fun massive if u forced to play a particular deck because everything else is countered by the same overpowered card.
What do other people think about this theme? Am i alone with my worries?

+1, boring characters are boring, when you see 95% of the decks u face in ELO are the same means something is not right.

I have scragh but I'm completly agree with this... I prefer well balanced units that fits in right decks or complement strategy of one deck, not to be ALL the deck.

So, I peeked into elo last week.
3 Mill
1 LEGENDARY mill (Dandy, Ish, Doyen)
2 Eclipse marauders.

I see why the marauders are top teir.
1:Dj: Sol'ra Eclipse +Anger
2:Kararine: TTD+ Reinforce Faith (+8 Attack to all character's for 2 turns...really?)
3: Mouktar: Encarnation+ Assassination.

I like Scragh because he brings back more of the slow roll decks. All these 1 hit kill decks are ruining most other strategies. It would be better if there were several lesser versions of him rather then one sorta heavy handed one(he's not OP because any slow roll deck can kill him easy)

Scragh doesn't bring back anything slow.
His first turn Distracted+ Dev dagger/attack booster/defense booster
His second turn: Once upon a time+ dev Dagger
He's a meat stick.
Nothing slow can survive top tier.
Mill decks are for people who don't know how to blast

- Or, want a homebrew annoyance.

Bring back? Since the release of the game, blaster's have dominated elo. Slow rolling decks were a phase when discard decks were big, otherwise,

Noz Mages
^Neither of those decks were 'slow rolling'
Stoons mill was the only high tier slow deck, but he had 2 ans, prestige, and void in his deck,the entire deck foil, so that point is invalid.
Circus, as far as I know, never won.
Kotoba warriors only had a moment of glory when people were caught off guard by WaW.
Witchblades rode in the horses with spell/physical beatdown.
Sap multirace
Sol'Ra Avatar
None of the competetive decks were slow, save, once again, the one with 5 foil legendaries in it.

IHAS, Tempus, Old Trackers, Ishida, Foam Giant, Old Dragon Knight, Pirate Code/Teamwork based deck were all slow rollers. All still viable if they would produce some better defense cards rather then these uber attack ones each week.

The problem is that they killed the entire slow cleric decks with sentence. I mean ok, something was needed to counter Immortals, Avalonians and few Zil cleric/discard, but they just offed all Nomad clérig decks with one card.
So all the slow decks that are healing based got fucked up by one card that is Sentence.
And in defence of mill decks, Ergheiz won the elo twice I think using a Eternal, Psich and Kriss deck with Exodio, (The theurgie that heals 3 and deals 3 magic dmg) and the card that gives attack -2 and you take -2 dmg on everything, Vanish i think.
The combination of Eternal, Stone-eater and Lady Yilith is still a strong one.
But in the last 6 month we have seen power scalating in the cards so now there is a lot of decks and strategies that one shot anything.. I mean there are some Sap that can one shot the avatar..

So all the slow decks that are healing based got fucked up by one card that is Sentence.
Well, it depends how you play. It's the same thing with Discard deck, [card]a new start[/card] and [card]anatheme[/card] (Sorry I don't know the english name for this one)
If you play in a way that makes obvious you'll play a healing card next turn, your opponent will play [card]sentence[/card] for sure. It's up to you to trick him, at a moment he is not expecting you to heal.

I have sentenced my Dragon Knight deck to Rest in Peace some time ago xD
Simply too many things to unnequip, defense = 0, anti-healing, etc xD
Now Saps FTW, they need nothing of this, and are the most brainless deck ever, specially multi race. If I had only 2 cards on my hands every fight instead of 5 it's still ok, I one shot people and fight ends on 3rd round.

I didn't want to double post about the top tier deck strategies, therefore my spelling was intact long before his comment <3
On topic:

My point was, slow rolling decks were NEVER top tier. There are plenty of viable strategies and character lineups that could be top tier with a few adjustments, they don't count for the sentiment of the point I challenged.
I'm currently using Nehantist Marauders like an early tracker deck, given a few tweaks, they could be disgustingly effective.
Crystal Storm is a beastly tactic, but again, it needs a few new cards or tweaks to be top tier.
Tempus is a dreadful attack and manipulation tactic that would be top tier with a few tweaks, but still, not high tier.
This game is meant to play two ways, casually and competitively. If you want to make homebrew and explore strategies, stick to the level rooms and don't worry about elo. If you're deck wipes the floor with everything, you're free to try elo. In a tournament of that caliber, you have to remember that it IS a competition, and there is a sizable reward at stake.
Every deck in this game was homebrew at a certain point. After all, players make the decks, not the dev staff, not feerik. They give us castes and outlines, but as players, we make the decks, we use the cards, we put the strategies together. Some find the best way to find cohesion in cards and characters faster than others, which is the source of net-decking.
The point is, not every deck has to be exactly the same, if you want to compete, you see what you're up against every week in these forums.
Personally, I like finding ways to make things work, so little to none of the decks I build are anything but really odd homebrews, most of which have a casual win rate of 70%, and are run through elo for at least a week to see if I can manage 1600+ with them.
You never know, you might see me in the top 10 one week, guaranteed it won't be something net-decked :3
