They can't. It's been suggested for them to allow nickname changing, though.

It's not a password trusting problem, it was somekind of Key Logger, since his MSN password was also stole. But feerik has been noticed, tickets have been opened, all we can do is wait to see how this fall out.

If it helps as information: this guy PallestraSPE, on an older thread in the Brazilian forum used to have another nickname that was aganst the rules because it was offencive, the Brazilian Staff at the time told him to change it and asked if it was the same name in game, he said it was, so the staff told him to change or he could get banned for violation of the rules, he asked if he could change the name and staff at the time said she would contact feerik for it and asked for some options. He gave PallestraSPE, later the staff posted that she managed to change the name both in the forum and in game.

This event proves that the person PallestraSPE had another account that wasn't the one named HaroxD, but one named PallestraSPE.
