Play balance

I love this game, and I do spend about $10 to $20 a month on booster packs, but it gets really discouraging when every game I play, some days, it seems like I'm only playing against people who spend tons of money on this game.  It reminds me of why I stopped playing Magic: whoever spends the most money has the best decks; it stops being about how good you are at the game and becomes a matter of who's got the most money.  I understand that you guys are running a business here, but it's not like I'm a freeloader - I'm just poor (and frugal - I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars on some virtual product that I can't even resell for real money in the future, at least Magic cards were an investment).
I've been thinking about this problem for quite a while and I think I may have come up with an actually viable idea:  make rooms with deck value limits,  In other words, total up the average Marketplace value of a players deck and notify them somewhere (probably in the deck editing screen) of what that value is.  Make rooms that have deck value thresholds where you can't enter if you deck exceeds a certain value.  That way less wealthy players can still have fun and challenging games without having to play against a bunch of people with 3 Emperor's Speeches or what have you, and the people who spend all this money don't have to waste all their time playing against decks that could never stand up to their might.  There would, obviously still be the normal "free-for-all" room where the less fortunate can test their decks against the big guys, and the big guys can bully us broke folks, too.

Re : Play balance

Im kinda feeling this now. Im trying for the new trophy and sometimes my deck of lvl one noobs runs across a fully kitted out immortal, shadow, etc deck. When that happens i just leave the game on turn one XD.

I think just a general rebalancing of cards will be better. But if a value has to be assigned then the idea of nuvus will be better as assigning it based on market value will be tantamount to letting players balance the game.

Remember if you dont want to play someone you can just leave smile You can usually tell just by the chars if you have a reasonable shot at winning or not. Hopefully if OP decks have no one to play against feerik will do a better job of game balance.

Re : Play balance

I actually prefer the idea someone else passed on creating rooms based on total character level.

So, you could have:

TCL (Total character Level): 3-5, 6-8, 9+

That way, someone with a brand new deck couldn't get so stomped...If I have 3 level ones, the worse it would be would be vs. levels 1-1-3, or 1-2-2.  Still a little of an uphill battle in some cases, but would alleviate some issues...

Granted, then someone will post "Then use training room newb"...but I'd rather have a competitive game that garners me crystals sometimes over the boosted character XP....just sayin'...

Granted, the format above could still garner you a match of non maxed out characters vs. maxed out characters....but that would either be your personal choice, or your opponent was using one of those characters that maxes out at lvl 2...

Re : Play balance

Character level isn't really the issue, though.  I have two decks with maxed out characters, but, for example, my Katoba warrior deck (even though all three characters are max level) gets stomped when I play against decks with three versions of multiple cards that cost 50,000 crystals or more.  I could just save all my winnings and eventually buy one or two such cards for that deck, but then I'm stuck just playing the same deck forever, which gets pretty boring.

I also agree that perhaps Marketplace value isn't the best way to measure a deck's strength since I've seen some weird prices (50,000 for Arachnophobia, or I recently accidentally sold a level two Flames of the Pheonix for 1,500 instead of 15,000 - that was a sad day), but the Marketplace is generally pretty accurate about card strength and rarity.
