Strategy Guide: The Pack (Zil).

Name: The Pack
Guild: Zil
Type of deck: Beatdown, boost attack and hit as fast and as hard as possible.

Characters:
[card]Fenrath[/card]
[card]Wild[/card]
[card]Bloodsword[/card] Warrior boost version.

Other Pack characters are [card]Faceless[/card] and [card]Dark[/card].
The reason for the characters is pretty straightforward;
Fenrath gives your other Pack a very nice attack boost when they have received damage, max +5/+0. For example, if Bloodsword loses 5 health in the first turn this bonus will get her to 12/12 attack for the next fight.
Wild gives you a guaranteed first round Lunation, a very important card, she also holds a nice surprise for magic users, when any of you Pack receive magic damage that character gets +1 attack until the end of the game.
Bloodsword boosts the attack for the other characters and just hits hard herself.
Both Faceless and Dark fall short, Dark just doesn’t have the bonuses and Faceless gets outclassed by Wild, also mostly because of the bonuses and abilities.

Key Cards:
[card]Lunation[/card]
[card]Bestial[/card]
[card]Dances with Volk[/card]
[card]Fly off the handle[/card]

Too me, these are the cards you should always use. I personally use 3 Lunation, 3 Bestial, 2 Dances and 3 Fly. Lunation is arguable the most important card for the Pack these days. With Wild getting you one for free and with the chance to play more yourself your chances of survival go up dramatically. It also adds attack in uneven turns.
The Bestial is just a very good weapon, +3 attack, activates immediately and Fenrath can always chain it. Round 1 Bestial and some damage = big attack in round 2 before playing any card.
Dances are of course to keep you alive, especially Fenrath, or the character that has the most Lunation on him/her. I play 2, some play 3, just play what you like really.
Fly is there for chaining, chains all mentioned cards while giving attack bonus.

Most used chains and starts for me are turn 1 Wild playing Fly+Lunation. Or, if it seems better play Fenrath turn 1 with a Lunation if that seems to give him better survivability.
Best chance for survival is to play Lunation as soon as possible.

Matchup and other cards:
The other cards are mostly connected to the matchups, so I handle them both here.

Magic Matchup: As you probably have noticed, the Pack gets destroyed by magic. They all have low spirit and not many options against it. I play [card]Nehantic Stone[/card] for example, but the matchup remains difficult. There are of course cards that boost spirit, like [card]I hate mystics[/card] and such, but the one spirit is not really enough. Don’t hesitate to play a Dances when you feel spells coming.

Beatdown Matchup: Well, you can do pretty good here, it is mostly about making Fenrath survive. Besides the Lunation people often put in extra cards to help him survive, like [card]Tadaa! You’re a bunny![/card] or [card]Fallback[/card]

For a lot of matchups it is basically the same tactic, survive, pick your moments to hit hard and know when what card is needed. Cards that I like to play include [card]All is fair in Love…[/card] and [card]… and War[/card] because it gives +6 attack in almost every occasion. Other usefull cards are the ones that every deck can play, [card]Clumsiness[/card], [card]Anathematize[/card] and a number of unique cards like [card]Extinction[/card] and [card]Storm[/card]. Personally I do not like to play Storm, you mostly get damage anyway, but I see the appeal.

That was it for my first try to a guide. If you have any suggestions I am glad to hear them, if people here would like closer and more extended matchup breakdowns then I am happy to work on those. I just thought these short ones where sufficient to get this topic started.
