Skyward boots and Freeze

My opponent's character (Hares the brute) kept his turn bonus after I used [card]Freeze![/card] to remove his [card]Skyward boots[/card].

Sorry no screen I was too surprised to take one.

I feel like skyward boots falls under the same category as things like Magic Potion, in the way that A) they provide their effects before combat and thus before Freeze takes effect and B) they provide a bonus that cannot be removed. I can only chalk it up to the fact that unlike a stat bonus, these effects are not permanent, but I really dont know in the end why its like that , only that it is
