N00bie rant

O.K. I've been playing the game for a few weeks now and am already getting tired of it. Spent money on boosters trying to build a viable pure warrior kotoba deck with very bad luck. Finnaly reached the dreaded lvl 13 and all i see are those nasty overpowered decks. All I get to face are people with 3 and more lvls higher than I am with either powder/bomb, discard, witchblades and even the new nehatist decks.

The problem is that I feel like I have to build my deck around countering those decks rather than focusing on my own strategy. I've added tenseis ans smash that iron but even then it's not enough to stay alive to get my own stuff going in the matches.

I have read through lots of threads here suggesting cards and tips to compete with the overwhelming unbalanced state of the game with poor succes and i'm not even going to talk about the overpriced cards out there that I would like to afford on the market or the ridiculous lack of fairplay.

How am I supposed to defend against all this stuff without sacrificing the nature of a pure warrior deck? Thinking of switching to crow/tracker as it seems fun to play but then again, I fear the issue will still be the same in the end.

I don't mind losing battles that are fairly close but really am tired of having one sided battles one after an other. There is no fun in playing to constantly lose to cheap tricks. At this rate it'll take me eons to build up the crystals I need to finish my deck knowing it will still be overcome by the sheer unbalanced state of the game. It is mostly discouraging...

Re : N00bie rant

theres a few things that i have to say:
1- like every free game, u dont get far if u dont use "real life money", like feez. if u dont spend at least 2$ per month it will be extremely hard to do it.

2-probably, u are having bad luck because each deck has its weaknesses and strong points, as im writing this im also fighting a sap heart deck that can easily destroy my nehantisis deck but would have a harder time against my pirates deck.

3-returning to point one, if you wont spend money, u should stick to building one single deck and then have patience, u will find decks that destroy u, that u will destroy, and that will give an awesome match

Re : N00bie rant

So, to clarify that I understand this correctly, you are aggrivated about the game, because you are forced to using more than one strategy to defeat your opponents? You expect the deck that YOU choose to be meta capable and able to defeat any and every deck you come accross?

Who says you cannot focus on your own strategy and further develope it to be more capable? Just do not expect to be able to necessarily compete with current meta trends, just because you want it to be that way. Either you build a deck towards that goal, or you just play whatever is fine by you.

And besides, if you play your cards right and you are lucky you can also defeat decks that can win you, like the sap hearts deck that i mentioned above

Do not pay attention to this guy above, he's been on these forums too long and doesn't really know how to be representative of his community title. Talked to feerik many times about his attitude and posts (with links for specific cases and quotes) so hopefully he won't be with us much longer (like how I took care of that Lorak person).

Oh really? Were you really the one taking care of me? It''s quite surprising, since I left Feerik for MY own reasons, while my colleagues wanted me to stay. Bleachman is not part of Feerik though, he's a player trying to help people enjoy the game by seeing real facts as much as talking about anything else around the game.

Please apoth, don't overestimate your powers. I remember you were the one telling how easy it would be to come over and make me regret the ban I gave you for this kind of post.

I could always make a trip to the HQ office though, it's not like I don't have money to cause a huge controversy with this game.

As of today, you are still welcome to come over and discuss your problems with the team.

So please stay relax, enjoy the game, and let people discuss what they want without getting all "bossy", as you're far from it. Bleachman, if I got too far, you're free to remove any part/all of my post.

Back onto the topic, when there are new releases, you see lots of people using those cards, and usually there are problems countering them, as we didn't encounter them before. iTCG is a paper/rock.scissor game. You might be a rock with a scissor, but only on very odd occasions. On the other hand, noone seem to realise that when they win, someone looses. Is your deck at 20% win ratio? If so, change some cards, upgrade your characters. If it's at 40% or more, it's normal, you're just like most players. In PvP, you always have to loose against someone, it's not like social games where everyone wins, and everyone is bored winning.

Oh my.....I've got power over my old manager? >.> *carefully looks are mod powers*

Nah, considering you tactfully said what I was going to anyway. I would've not been so nice. Even after three paragraph edits. tongue

Lesson for everyone though: If you are at odds with staff, Mods or Feerek alike, don't be hesitant to complain. If the company agrees with your standpoint and finds something wrong, it will be dealt with. If it isn't, well then, you either are in the minority, or like apoth, potentially delusional on grandeur, and need to take a deep breath and either work things out, or just step away and agree to disagree.

Back to original:

Koto warriors, as they stand, are mainly one of the original three decks from the start of the game. Their problem, at the moment, is that while they've had some updates, the other decks have either proven to be stronger through the test of time (Zil) or have had numerous additions to help meta (Noz). Some of th newer cards do help (imperial armor comes to mind), but they still don't address the needs/weaknesses like the other decks have done. Either you can hold onto the deck and hope they get updated (I'm doing this with my Dragon Knights), or abandon them for a currently stronger warrior deck, like Sap Hearts. Either way its your choice, but just realize the ever changing meta involved in this game requires you to adapt and play more than one strat.

If there were no luck in TCG, how boring would that be?

@SusyQ-

All the politicking aside, I would recommend you try mixing it up. If you have a decent Kotoba Warriors deck, try running with Gan'so, Lord Galmara (Zil version) and Oogoe Kage. I was able to compete in ELO room with these characters.

Just make sure you grab a couple of Tsume and at least 1 overwhelming victory. Play to slow things down and build up your defence early on, then bring the pain in the later rounds. I used the runic gauntlet, but also the Armour of the Lightning King is powerful. If you can get your hands on The Best Defence (expensive but worth it), you can really do some late game damage with a warrior deck.

I wouldn't get discouraged. I felt the same way when I hit level 12. Seemed like everyone had a better deck than me all of a sudden. I just took some time in the training room levelling characters up and selling them for crystals to use on my 'main' deck. Now I am level 13, and i can compete in ELO against most others.

Remember that there will always be a weakness for your deck. Learn what it is, and try to play your cards wisely. A lucky draw doesn't hurt either smile

Good luck. I hope you stick with it. The game does improve again once you get past the level 12 slump.
