Trouble using a card

Hello, I bought Anryena because I thought it was the upgrade for Archmage Anryena, then I saw that her cap level was 2, and I did not found a way to upgrade it.
So I thought they were not related although they share part of the name, but since one was "compendium" and the other was not, and normally after an upgrade the name stays the same. Even the number in Anryena was golden so I guess it was my mistake for not paying attention.

So I bought Archmage Anryena, and when I tried to use both it says that they are the same. I was hoping you could cancel the trade somehow because if I can't use both then I prefer to use the Prophet instead of the Archmage and I can only afford one.

I know the trades are between players and I don't want in any way to harm the other player, but I feel that there was not enough information to prevent me from making this "mistake" and I am still in the beginning and those 20k are expensive for me.

Hope you can help in any possible way.
Thank you.

So you bought one card, without knowing that is of any use, or more you asumed it would be useful. It turns out it isn't, you buy the card you actually wanted and now want somebody to reimburse you for the initital mistake YOU made? O_o

It was an innocent mistake.

to the OP...

Characters of the same name is just Feerik's marketing strategy to get you to buy boosters. I've also complained about this aspect but it's obviously like that for a reason (to get you to spend money). I'm not very delighted by the fact that I work hard to upgrade these characters to have them replaced by a super version of the same name the following week.

I think the best way to compensate for your situation is to upgrade your archmage anryena then sell her for more profit than the lvl 1 you bought (assuming you bought lvl 1 version). If not, you might just have to take a few thousand crystal loss in taxes.

If you follow the story, characters evolve with time. It's not marketing, it's storyline evolution. If you don't follow the storyline, you cannot know about this. However, every thursday has a new storyline event.

And the "old" characters are still far from being unplayable. They aren't loosing any power, and might just have some newer with every release that allows them more cards.

Re : Trouble using a card

Like I said I am new to the game, playing it for about one week maybe less. I did not even knew there was a story line like that, or that it was normal to "replace" cards to support the story.
Since they were apparently different cards because the Archmage does not evolve from Anryena, at least from the game mechanics I thought they were diferent and tried to use both but that's ok, I will just try to sell it again maybe I will get lucky...

But then again I still think there should be a system to at least warn players about these things. Like you can't use it on your deck do you wan't to buy it... or you already have a weaker version of this card do you want to buy it.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I will have to be more careful next time lol.

I figured their regular releases every week with game changing and altering new cards would be their strategy to sell cards. Why do they release new characters then? sad

You now have access to a forum of experienced players and loads of posts with most likely simular questions to your own. That is the system most games have to share and offer information to every player. Use it.

Don't worry you aren't the only one that got confused by this. When I first started playing I found out about this mechanic randomly. I had Golem Marlok and Marlok the Repentant and I saw when I tried to put either into a deck, the other would disappear. I realized characters with the same name can't be used.  I still don't understand this concept of 2 characters with the same name but one of them is a super version (the latter being the newer release of course).

It'd make more sense to have the dumbed down version be able to upgrade to the super version but then that would give players too much fun and excitement for having the ability to upgrade their old cards instead of being rendered useless.

IMO of course.
