what exactly are the rules for direct damage? should -1 damage not counteract it? seams like the only thing that could.

Why must Randori be a warrior action only :'( there are marauder's in the kotoba that could use this card.
(+2 spirit and +1 attack.)
the kotoba are really hating on there non warrior characters.

Its because of Katamaru. While I Hate Mystics is a suitable replacement it only chains on mage priest while randori will chain on any1.
Lets see
Akutsai assuming vs a non mage/priest +1 vs each +2 to totals vs both.
Akutsai Turn 1or3 = 8/10 3 Spirit + Randori = 9/11 5 Spirit + Katamaru = 14/16 to -X(def)
Akutsai Turn 1or3 = 8/10 3 Spirit + Randori = 9/11 5 Spirit + Rain of Death = 9/11 attack + 8-12 magic dmg
Hime Turn 1or2 = 8/12 2 Spirit + Randori = 9/13 4 Spirit + Katamaru = 13/17 to -X(def)
Yea so much hate towards anything not a boring kot warrior... Unfortunately the means to make this usefull costs more than it would to be a boring kotwarrior with ***bip*** puny swords
However, Randori is much more useful than in that boring Kot Warrior on other warriors.
Galmara + Randori + Rain of Death
Okooni(w/Kyo) Randori + Katamaru
