Chaining AOE spells

I have noticed I have been unable to chain AOE spells with mages. But I could have sword I had a match where someone chained "The last word" (?? +x spirit, where x =  defense) and then Lightning Bolt level 3...

Is it not possible to chain AOE? is there something you need to do to be able to do so?



Also wondering what is better to run, In your onion...

1x Lightning Bolt lvl 3

or

lower levels of lightning bolt in mass?

They most likely chained [card]Hungry Void[/card] after last word.  That combo is pretty much the penultimate Noz Mage combo.

3 lightning Bolts level 2 is pretty useless, you can not chain them so you loose time slot to put spells.
Using 3 lightning bolt level 1 is more efficient if you do not have lightning bolt level 3.

If you want AOE spells, use 1 level 2 and 2 level 1.

Try a chain last word / lightning bolt level 1 on Pilkim turn 1 or 3 and you will be very happy by the results.
