Since everyone questions what will work, and what won't, I'm writing this for anyone who comes along. Also, open to change, so it'll be an evolving guide.
So, people are constantly asking what cards go with what characters and which setup as how many do which this and that ( if you understood that you win an internet) so I'll put this in easy to act steps.
Step 1:
Decide what your deck will be about. Will it focus on battle? Spells? Stacking effects? This is the first thing you should establish.
Step 2: Make a rough draft, in the form of a list, as to what you'll be using, even if you don't have the cards, you'll set up what you're shooting for.

NOTE
One of the "rules" One can follow to optimize their deck is to even out which cards they use with the character's that can use them.
IE: It would be a bad idea to put 5 warrior cards in a deck with only 1 warrior character.
For this I came up with a personal ratio, 1:1.5
Meaning, if only 1 character can use a certain card, only one should be in the deck at any time, if two can use it, then I can throw around any amount.
This way, unless you're really getting pounded, you will have a very low chance at a dead hand.
Example:
Mercenary Marauder, Maruader/Priest,Mercenary Priest
3 Thuergy w Chain
1 Thuergy
2 Priest restricted actions w chain
6 Marauder limited actions w chain
3 multi class items w dual wield
1 guild restricted action
and whatever remains as unaffiliated cards
Leaving a wide variety of which cards can be played by each character.
***Remember Guemelites can play a spell of their element
Step 3:Characters:
Why step 3? Because Cards within the deck are of more importance than who is using them. The game consistently adds new cards, character's can become outdated and replaced, while top rate cards within the deck are seldom replaced.
Remember to use characters that even up with the kind of cards you put in the deck, and to keep in mind who can't use what.
I won't give advice on what characters to use with what, because the point of this thread is to give guidelines with which one can make something CREATIVE, and FUNCTIONAL
Last note
Castes: Most decks using character's with a shared Caste are pre-built, as such, are more intuition than strategy.
Chains: Try to have at least 5 solid chains available with each character. (For warriors, count every 2 items their class chains as 1 chain)
Strengths and Weaknesses: Try to keep note of these and use at least 2 or 3 cards against what you're and easy target to. No deck is good at everything, but it helps to pad yourself from the cards you're susceptible to.
If anyone has anything to add, ASIDE DECK BUILDS, feel free to comment.

Mercenaries and trophies are underrated.
