I think you have to look at the support you can give the target. Akutsai I think is good because of the support for mages and marauders within the faction.
I personally like Golemarlok as a character, but it is a faction that doesn't care for non-marauders in general (besides the Pack's little corner of the Zil world).

Personally, I like Akutsai. For starters, he's got great stats. But I think the best thing about him is that he's a mage killer. He gets a bonus vs both mages and priests, and he can use Katamaru. I hate mystics into Katamaru is enough to take down just about any mage.

Statistic wise, however, the Eternal is top-end. There's no denying that by statistical value.
Of course, level 3 Ateb is good too, since he can keep healing himself with some It Is Time! I feel like he's been forgotten in this convorsation.
