Better Leveling

Something should really be done about leveling of the cards...

As I buy cards I want to level them...

In a normal match I can earn 2-4 EXP per card.
In a Training match I can earn 3-7 EXP per card.

So... wheres the bonus. I am level 14 now. So leveling cards in normal matches is absolutely horrendous. I go play and I have cards that are lvl 2 or below versus maxed level cards of people who are too scared to go play ELO matches.

Proposed solutions:

* Do not dictate how many training matches we can have a day.. Really? 5 matches? for what a whole like extra 5-10 exp? Let us play as many as we want in a day. Let normal matches be for trying out decks and earning crystals. Training should give large bonus to exp and 0 crystals. Normal matches much less exp but more crystals.

* Up the exp in training matches. Most I have earned that I have seen in a training match is 7. I believe I have actually earned 5 EXP in a normal match... so.. a whole extra 2 EXP for a training match.. what BS. Let training matches be just for that. We should be earning 10-20 EXP per match. It still takes 10-20 matches to level from level one to level two and still takes 30-50 matches to level three, etc etc.

* Make a normal room for non maxed cards, let's call it a CASUAL room. Right now I could care less about if I have a little sign (although I don't think I do) next to me saying I quit matches... I will continue to quit matches against full level decks when all I want is to get a couple of cards leveled. It isn't worth 10-15 minutes of my time to earn 2 exp per card... at least in a room of non maxed cards I would stand a chance of getting that elusive 4 exp.

*Fix it so we can only face the same opponent like 2x in one day... I mean seriously, I was in a training room and 3 of my matches against the same exact guy.. one where I saw him time out but the game didn't register it so I had to quit it. I don't want to see the same deck repeatedly. I want new decks.

*Stop making stupidly broken decks. Don't you guys have play testers like every other TCG out there?
-Items have a soul deck.. oh no its not overpowered to throw away a crap ton          of items and play the same card 5 times in a row getting up to a 15 attack and 15 defense... nope not at all.
-Double attack. Who came up with this bright idea. Lets play a card that drops the opponents defense to 0 then allows me to attack 3 times? So lets add up the minimum attacks here.. 6x3... 18 dmg in a turn? I can't recall anyone that has 4 defense coming out of the gate (unless you are playing moria and eglantye or whatever her name is, and I guess that one Kob guy that looks like the fish from chrono trigger) allowing them to take a whole 16 damage (still most likely killing them) oh strike that they get -2 attack on the first attack hitting for 4 then 6 and 6.. so still 16 dmg off the bat which still kills most.
-When you look at it, when you build it around a caste they can get stupidly insane. Tracker decks giving all trackers +1 spirit +1 defense... Pack decks playing all their lovely cards to get massive amounts of damage and healing themselves to full in the same turn. Crow decks haven't caught on yet from what I have seen but I am sure they will soon enough to bypass the people that play heavy defense.

I am sure I could come up with 100 more things to balance the game a bit more, but I would be happy with being able to max a few more cards before ending up playing in a room with players that have full maxed decks. I have found items and actions/spells easy to level.. its the characters that are a pain. Thing is, it wouldn't even hurt the auction house much, it would just cause people to max more characters and sell them... which would in turn cause people to buy more cards... Personally I see it as a profitable situation.

Maybe your concerns about the balance of Items Have A Soul and Double Attack came from this. In competitive play, these 2 cards are not dominant, because they are narrow strategies that can be easily countered. If you find that you're deck is weak against those you have 2 solutions :
- try to counter it : [card]Fallback[/card] is good against those multi-attacks Elfline. [card]Obesity[/card] is good against both IHAS and Double Attack. [card]Anathème [/card] also wrecks IHAS decks.

- ignore these decks, considering you won't face them often : if you can't play Anathème or Obesity, then your deck is weak to IHAS and will lose to it. The game is like that : every deck has its 'Nemesis'.

Regarding your concerns about character lvling we had a conversation a few days ago with the staff, and they are well aware of this problem. They are brainstorming about the most appropriate solution.

Except I have pumped prob at least $500+ into the game >.< So I am talking from a payers point of view.

I will put it this way.. the current leveling system... I am less likely to put more money into the game.. when I played ***bip*** I enjoyed their leveling system so Much I spent about 2,000 playing it.. when I played Warstorm... I put about 5,000 into it.. so. .. yeh...

Re : Better Leveling

This post wasn't a great post in the first place.

The only relevant point you mentioned is the one that they are working on.

The basis of the rest of your complaints is a mess of whining because you don't have maxed cards while others have gone through the process already.

There are Casual rooms, they are called the LEVEL ROOMS.
It's as casual as you're going to get, and there are plenty of players in the 11+ rooms who don't use maxed characters.
If you can't handle that, don't waste your opponents time by randomising into games just to leave, and play your 5 games a day in the training rooms instead.

The broken decks you've named are the ones that are reasonably balanced or are slightly underpowered. You obviously haven't got a clue about competitive play because you haven't mentioned any of the powerhouse decks out there in your rant, which are much more powerful and consistent.

You THINK that you have 100 more suggestions to make the game better, but your point of view comes from someone who just reached level 14 who apparently hasn't maxed their cards, and has only been losing games and whos first response is to come here to rant about losing. Very constructive feedback.

Learn to play the game, each deck has its strength and weakness. The whole basis of the game is finding this out and building your own deck accordingly.

Also, as hard as leveling is, considering that you've played against so many maxed cards already, its obviously possible. All it shows is that others have more patience then you.
If they've put in the work, why shouldn't you have to?

Re : Better Leveling

While I think that leveling cards is not a real problem the devs should focus their time on, there are some ways to improve it and make it a bit less frustrating (except by organizing evo groups) - I've tried to level a completely random group of mages this weekend (L1 Aku, Toran, Observer) and 9 out of 10 games, I play against a (almost) max level deck whose owner decides to completely ignore my order bonus. There's no rule that prevents you from having so little esteem in your deck that you need to do this, but I believe that giving people a little incentive to hit your order bonus (like some extra crystals) would improve the situation a lot.

Re : Better Leveling

A friend and I pondered about the idea of character level based rooms.

Room 1: Characters level 1-3 (if all 3 are level 3 they would not qualify anymore)

Room 2: Characters level 3+ (place for maxed out characters or training of higher leveled characters in a more competative atmosphere)
