Weapons at Will/Cut and Thrust

So if Cut and Thrust is the last card played (say, after playing In The Name of the Dragon) and my opponent plays Weapons at Will, shouldn't the weapon he gets be discarded? It hasn't been working like that so maybe I'm not reading/understanding something. hmm
