Dagger master bug?

Just finnished a game where my opponent used dagger master. I wasn't worried because it only deals 5 direct damage to my characters and they all had 6 or more HP. Funny thing was that the characters that had 6 and 7 HP died. Apparently it delt 7 direct damage to them . . . Did I miss something? He didn't pump it up that I could tell, I don't think you can even pump up dagger master, is this a bug?

If he had 2 [card]stirring up hatred[/card] in the game his [card]dagger master[/card] deal 7 damage.

Saphira Zil, add 1 damage to it, and there is that card, instigating hatred, of something like that that add 1 damage to all the damage you do, and last 2 or 3 turns i think..
