[Not a Bug] Mechanist Deck Using Kotoba Cards?

I'm not sure if this is a bug or I just do not understand the rules well enough. I fought a Mechanist deck (Pirates) using at least two Kotoba cards - 3 copies of Fireon and 3 copies of the throwing star (can't remember that name at the moment). Also along the same lines: I tried creating a Tsoutai deck and used the mercenary version of Toran. I couldn't use ANY of the Tsoutai cards. I've fought plenty of Foam Giants that can use any item in the game, so is this a bug as well that I could not use any Tsoutai cards?

The golems can use any object. And the first toram is a mercenary so you cant use kotoba cards with him.

The funny thing is that when i was new i create a post with those questions XD so welcome aboard ^^ hope you enjoy the game.
