Am I getting it wrong or my opponent's are supposed to get -1 spirit and def at the end of the fight, not +1 ?

Yes, but that is 1 less than the "when played" penalty... so they will "gain" 1 back... because they're going from a -2 penatly to a -1 one...

In that case they have to make an errata because any rational math-based being is going to get confused
-2 -1 = -3
