Classes and spells

Hi,
I have another n00b question. I have seen sometimes that a class (for example a warrior, let's name Silene) plays a card that is specifically made for another class (Let's name the card Dark Light which is made for mages as the icon on it shows).
Is there any hidden abilities of certain characters that makes them able to play some out of class cards? (I know some cards allow you to use any other card regardless of it's race, class and clan limitations)

Silene is a shadow guemelite, a guemelite can use a spell that is specific to its guemelite type as long as it is of appropriate race and caste, for example [card]dark light[/card] is a shadow spell and can be used by any shadow guemelite.
