Hi all, I'm relatively new around here and just getting a feeling for things. I have a couple of questions for those of you willing to share your thoughts.

Here's my first: Is upgrading your cards always worth it?

I assume (since I haven't done it yet) that when you combine card A and card B to make card C, that you lose both originals A/B from your collection and gain a copy of C. Sometimes this is a no brainer (like Katana + Blast to make Emperor's Speech). Easy decision.

However, combining, say, an Iro the Duelist with Emperor's Speech to get an extra +1/+0 seems pretty crazy, considering how hard it is to get an Emperor's Speech.

Assassination and the Desert Nomad girl is another example. Assassination is a super-useful card, is it really worth losing that card for an extra skill point or 3?

I guess this is all irrelevant if you have multiple copies of all the good cards laying around, but for what I'd imagine is most of us, I just don't see the benefit at this time. But again, I'm new, and hence the question to the new players!

Your reasoning is ot wrong at all. Sometimes it is questionable if an upgrade is worth it. In every case it severely depends on what you personally beleive/think. If upgrading Kararine from level 2 to level 3 by using an Assassination is worth it, be my guest. Some people might go for it, others wouldn't.

Iro doesn't gain much in his average, wheras Kararine goes up to being tied for second best averages. If you have the Assassinate to spare, I'd say do it. Even if you don't, she gains a point of assured damage and a point of spirit, (as well as a better activation for anti-magic.) Also, I heard something may be coming out to better the spirit against other people. She, in my opinion, would be worth it.

Some are worth it. Abomination seems to always sell for more than the sum of it's many parts. Others, like the marauder Kararine, aren't worth it right now. If you want her don't fuse her with an assassination, just buy her already fused.
