I don't get the point. Player level difference diffuses from lvl 12+ when you get to play against some real decks. If players don't focus on a single deck (in regards to buying cards for it and leveling characters), they will very likely have a finished deck around lvl. 14. From that point on, they either get bored and start something new with lvl 1 chars or they stick to the deck and go for elo (a few stay in the level rooms to boost their ego).
So... why reward low level players for investing less time in the game? There isn't much high end content in the game (except Abo and Shadow) that rewards a huge time investment so the gap between lvl 12-14 and, say, lvl 16-19 isn't as large as it might seem. What sets people apart is their personal experience they gathered by playing different deck types, which you can't compensate by anything the devs could implement, and of course the amount of cash they can spend.
(And yes, I know, after an unbelievable grindfest you are rewarded with access to StoneEater, but if I EVER get there, YES, give free XP, Crystals and Feez to everyone who fights me
)
Edit: btw, everyone seems to be playing max evo'd decks after this weekend ![]()
I think Raelian meant the interaction of the trophy with caste-specific weapons.. ![]()
Anyway, is there any clarification what is classified as magic damage? Does Katamaru's damage pump work? Than the sword? Or just straight-to-the-head direct damage?
Keizan in the Premium Booster, me = super happy ![]()
I also whined about discard some time ago - http://forum.eredan.com/viewtopic.php?i … at=itcg-us.
I was a bit noobish back then, turns out discard ain't so bad at all. Sure, it's a cheap tactic (in any regard), but with a streamlined deck games end around turn 4-6 and it's hardly an issue. I figure it's a lot tougher if you're going against fully evo'd Zil, but I'd still rather have an Abo playing discard instead of +8 attack buffs ![]()
While I think that leveling cards is not a real problem the devs should focus their time on, there are some ways to improve it and make it a bit less frustrating (except by organizing evo groups) - I've tried to level a completely random group of mages this weekend (L1 Aku, Toran, Observer) and 9 out of 10 games, I play against a (almost) max level deck whose owner decides to completely ignore my order bonus. There's no rule that prevents you from having so little esteem in your deck that you need to do this, but I believe that giving people a little incentive to hit your order bonus (like some extra crystals) would improve the situation a lot.
A solid Noz take will take you down with no trouble, I wouldn't care about adding any specific counters since I don't encounter those a lot, but you can switch It is time for some Deflections if you want.
Get some Life Devourers, you will enjoy playing them (in a lot of decks). You can only chain them on Foam Giant, but that's not a big issue. And don't forget that those can be dual wielded.
Why not? You want cards that chain and your choices are somewhat limited. I don't like Smart Ass or Weapon Dance since your equipment gives you enough offensive power, you just need time to set it up. Furthermore it helps you get Life Devourer's bonus and is a nice chain with A New Beginning...
Maybe we should rather call Warriors UP ![]()
I'm playing this:
Aez/Hares/Foam Giant
3 It is time (switch to something else if you're at max lvl)
1 New Start
1 Journey
3 Life Devourer
3 Runic Gauntlet/Armor (whatever you prefer)
3 Shell
1 Smash that Iron
2 Sword of 5 Elders (enough imo)
2 Tadaa!
1 The best Defense
About 60:40 in non elo-play, it's not very competetive and I run it only for trophies and leveling some chars. You can vary a bit by adding Yilith + Divine Light + Oath of Faith instead of Aez+Swords+Shells or Quilingo/Kronhan instead of the other heavy hitters - whatever you need at max lvl ![]()
Dunno, if you plan on playing this game for some time, I'd suggest you to get a Watchmaker sooner or later since some of the top characters in their last evolution depend on having him at max lvl. Same goes for Apostle, check out this topic:

My DKs dual wield Draconian Swords and Life Devourers, which is a pretty solid package since those provide some life gain as well. Considering the effort to get Pala Hammer going, I think that Life Devourers, which provide you with less lifegain for more draw consistency and punch are the better option.
I've also tested Dragon's Presence, it's very situational since it requires a Noz card AND is rather useless in the first 3 rounds, but provides a nice chain for The Last Action. Since this deck needs every chainable card it can get, I ended up playing 1 Journey and 1 Dragon's Presence.
The Best Defense is a must imo, since it allows you to break stalemate situations.
It's the card everyone whined about wanting. Guess what? I don't see it as something I would use. I encounter courtesan decks only on occasion and I have almost always defeated such decks before this release. If people think it's such a great card and begin stuffing it in their decks then people will think twice about using a courtesan deck, making my encounters with them rarer than they are right now. This card also looks like it would waste space in my deck. I remember trying Obesity and To Lay Bare and they just ate up deck space and interfered with my draws. This may sound like sour grapes to you, but if I really wanted this card, I could just sell a card or two out of my collection for it. If I ever decide to buy it, it will be when the price drops to something more reasonable. 14k for a target-specific action card is downright ridiculous.
The card was released today. Even useless uncommons go for 10k+ on release day.
Anyway, what you describe is called metagaming. Have a lot of decks of kind X and ppl. will play cards that are good vs. X until their opponents turn to deck Y etc.
It's a nice silver bullet, nothing special, most decks can afford to play a few metagame specific cards. I was hoping for real permanent removal and not just permanent action removal so we get a solution to Pala Hammer & Solar's Anger as well. Maybe with a drawback like having the char lose life so it doesn't outclass Smash that Iron.
There's a difference between the 1st and 2nd level of Sunburn in the french translation. Sadly I don't speak french (and I'm too lazy to type it up in google translate), but I figure it's the same with Smash that Wall and Smash that Iron so that you can chose any permanent at lv. 2
Sunburn will cover our needs, thx for that!
Please
- remove chain
- or give us permanent removal
This is sick.
Hmm, another trophy designed without much thought. At least those points can be gathered rather quickly. Maybe we're back to trophies next week that either reward players symmetrically or those players who actually try to archive them as obviously intended by the devs.
44 games so far, 16 points gathered. I've found out that Noz Mages let you control the game enough to gather points vs. players that don't quit and have an OK matchup vs. the omnipresent courtesans (don't get me started on those...). Furthermore, I started today to write player names down who show good sportsmanship to return the favor on this bulls trophy.
I've also had a bunch of people quit if their goal seems unreachable or I could actually get a point for this week's trophy. Really poor design IMO.
Maybe he put it up for 500k because you need to buy one so urgently that you opened a new forum topic for it?
If you got a limited budget, focus on one deck style, level your cards and if you get bored with the deck, sell the leveled cards and get a new one. Staples you can use in most decks are Assassination, Rain of Death, Obesity, Tadaa!, Living Daggers / Life Devourers, Warrior's Fury, Divine Light and The best Defense (unique). All pretty expensive, but you can cover a lot of decks with those and set your long term plan.
If you're looking for cheaper cards, get a few pairs of all is fair in love + and war, Ice Barriers, Than the Sword, Shell, maybe Fallback. You also want a few cards that chain so you can keep up with other decks that use their resources to their fullest, like Weapon Dance or Smart Ass. For starting out you should be looking for cards that are not restricted to a certain guild so you can try different guilds with cards you're already familiar with (I know that contradicts a bit with my beginning statement, just don't go overboard spending money on different decks).
As for characters, cheap and good choices for the basic builds for each guilds are imo:
Kotoba - Xin, Asajiro, Iro (you want Gakyusha in the long run..)
Noz - Pilkim, Crystalomancer, Alishk, maybe Anryena (also, Prophet if you got the money)
Zil - If you want to go for Shadow, level up Silene and Selene (Silene is a chore since she's no Marauder...), Bloodsword, maybe the Abomination components
Skip Desert Nomads, those are quite expensive and won't net you a good win percentage if you don't stock up to 3 Divine Light for the priest route or 3 Solaris for beatdown, or both if you go hybrid... Plus some nifty "filler" cards like A Warrior's Fury.
I'm a strong believer that (most) markets regulate themselves, also this game's. The market price stands in direct relation to booster cost, time needed for acquiring crystals, supply and demand. If any of those factors changes, so does the price. A taxation of 10% is fair, I've seen online markets that work without real taxation (Battleforge) and give full benefit to clever traders without bankrupting the provider. I think it's already a huge plus for f2p players that there is no secondary market for feez only and to be honest, crystals are comparable easy to acquire - you won't be capable of stocking up to 3 Assassinates in a week, but at least you have a long term game plan ![]()
If you don't want to spend a lot of money on the game, buy some <1000 crystal common chars, level them up, spend 5 euros once to unlock trading, put them up for sale and profit. This is a good game with an outstanding update policy, the devs deserve some contribution.
On a side note, the only real problem I see is that booster prices are quite steep. Excluding discounts, for 5 Euros you get almost one booster with 12 cards, including a single rare, which is more expensive than buying a physical MtG booster for example. A digital good should cost less than it's physical counterpart for obvious reason.
The bug has been resolved, prices should be back to normal pretty soon.
There's a server sided problem atm that doesn't allow players to put cards up for sale (it's being discussed in the french forum http://forum.eredan.com/viewtopic.php?i … t=itcg-us). I figure that explains prices..
At lvl 14 I've seen a fair share of decks with some degree of OP-ness, but so far the most annoying deck is discard. Having a 20 card deck is really very little and even against non-discard decks, players run out of cards if they start with a crap hand or the game drags on. So far I've managed to take down some of those by one-shotting their chars with highly aggressive decks, but this is more a thing of luck than of skill or tactic. Things only got worse since the new Marlok was released.
I don't want to qq too much here, but I figure discard takes a lot of fun out of the game. Players are meant to play their cards, not discard them, and I haven't found a good counter-tactic except saving 100k+ Crystals for A New Start and another 200k for Void since you need to recycle it (and nah, Watcher is no good alternative).
This is an option I can follow as a paying player (and I need those for elo anyway), but I figure most player's budget doesn't allow that.
I'm looking forward on some opinions on this issue, maybe I'm just overreacting?
Sure, but after you made your attack choice, you shouldn't need another minute to decide which action to play unless you have no clue what's going on.
